FCC Listing Reveals Redmi 17 4G’s Unusually Wide Memory Range for the Entry Level

A new Redmi 4G phone is edging closer to release, and the most notable detail is not the network support but the unusually wide memory lineup. The device, believed to be Redmi 17 4G, has appeared in the FCC database with a configuration range that is more typical of a higher tier product than a basic entry-level model.

The listing points to Xiaomi’s effort to give this affordable phone more room to fit different markets and usage needs. That approach could make the device stand out in a segment where low-cost phones often arrive with only limited storage choices.

FCC filing reveals the basics

According to The Tech Outlook, the handset is listed under model number 26012RN62L and FCC ID 2AFZZRN62L. The filing confirms GSM, WCDMA, and 4G support, along with dual SIM capability.

The same documentation also shows Bluetooth support for BR, EDR, and LE. Dual-band WiFi on 2.4GHz and 5GHz is included as well, which gives the device a more complete connectivity package for its class.

Although the FCC entry does not state the commercial name directly, the model has been linked to Redmi 17 4G through earlier leaks. That connection is further reinforced by another model number, 26012RN62Y, which is said to point to the same device.

Memory options go far beyond the usual entry-level setup

The strongest talking point from the listing is the set of memory variants. The revealed combinations are 4GB + 128GB, 6GB + 128GB, 6GB + 256GB, 6GB + 512GB, 8GB + 256GB, and 8GB + 512GB.

That range is unusually broad for a budget phone. It suggests Xiaomi may be preparing the same model for different regions and different buying patterns, instead of limiting it to a single basic configuration.

The highest listed option, 8GB RAM with 512GB storage, is especially notable in this segment. Even without any official positioning from Xiaomi, the memory sheet alone makes Redmi 17 4G look more flexible than a typical low-end release.

HyperOS clues strengthen the identification

Another clue comes from the HyperOS codebase, where the device is associated with the codename “zephyr” and the internal model number P19A. Those details line up with the FCC data, which makes the identification more credible even though Xiaomi has not confirmed the phone publicly.

The same early information also points to a Snapdragon 6s 4G Gen 2 chipset. That detail remains unconfirmed, but it would fit the phone’s 4G-only positioning and its likely focus on efficiency and broad availability.

Global plans and possible rebrands

Redmi 17 4G is said to be headed for a global launch. The markets mentioned include Europe, Turkey, Indonesia, Taiwan, and Russia.

Indonesia stands out in that list because it signals Xiaomi’s interest in a market where affordable 4G devices still have strong appeal. A model with multiple memory tiers could give the company more room to tailor pricing and positioning across regions.

The Tech Outlook also mentions a possible Poco rebrand, with the device expected to appear as Poco M9 4G under model number 26012PC62G. That would place the same hardware under a different brand identity for another market strategy.

A broader family is taking shape

The 4G model is only one part of a wider device lineup. Another codename, “mist,” is tied to internal model number P19 and includes 26021RN18C, 26021RN18I, and 26021PC18I.

Those devices are associated with Redmi Note 17R for China, Redmi 17 5G, and a Poco M8 Plus 5G rebrand. Xiaomi appears to be building a multi-market family with shared roots but different names and network support.

For the Redmi 17 5G model, Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 is mentioned as a likely chipset. Its market reach is also described as similar to the 4G version, with India and China added to the list.

At this stage, details such as design, display size, camera setup, battery capacity, and pricing are still unavailable. Even so, the FCC filing, HyperOS traces, and the spread of model numbers across Redmi and Poco all suggest that Redmi 17 4G is moving closer to launch.
