Redmi A7 Pro 5G Pulls Ahead, Better Camera, Longer Support, and a Stronger Chip

Xiaomi’s Redmi A7 family stands out because the most expensive option is not automatically the best fit for every buyer. The lineup splits into three clearly different devices: Redmi A7, Redmi A7 Pro 4G, and Redmi A7 Pro 5G.

That distinction matters because the models share several entry-level traits, but they diverge in key areas such as display size, camera hardware, battery capacity, chipset, and software support. For budget shoppers, the differences go far beyond the name on the box.

Three models, three roles

Xiaomi positioned the Redmi A7 Pro 4G as the first global model in the family, with a March 2026 launch that also includes Indonesia. After that, Redmi A7 and Redmi A7 Pro 5G followed in India in April 2026 and were presented as successors to the Redmi A5 series, since there is no Redmi A6 series.

At first glance, the three phones look nearly identical from the front. Each one uses a waterdrop notch, thick bezels, an 8 MP selfie camera, and a 120 Hz refresh rate.

Where the differences start to matter

The display is one of the first places where the split becomes visible. Redmi A7 uses a 6.88-inch LCD with a 720 x 1640 pixel resolution and a peak brightness of 600 nits.

Redmi A7 Pro 4G and Redmi A7 Pro 5G both move to a 6.9-inch LCD with a 720 x 1600 pixel resolution. They are also brighter, reaching a peak brightness of 800 nits.

Camera hardware is not the same

The rear camera setup shows a more obvious gap between the three devices. Redmi A7 keeps things simple with a single rear camera, while Redmi A7 Pro 4G and Redmi A7 Pro 5G use dual-camera modules in a capsule-shaped design.

Among them, Redmi A7 Pro 5G carries the most notable main sensor at 32 MP. Redmi A7 and Redmi A7 Pro 4G both use a 13 MP main camera, which puts the 5G model in a stronger position for photography.

Different chips, different class

All three devices rely on Unisoc processors, but they are not powered by the same chip. Redmi A7 and Redmi A7 Pro 4G both use the Unisoc T7250 built on a 12 nm process.

Redmi A7 Pro 5G steps up to the Unisoc T8300 with a 6 nm process. That makes the 5G variant the most modern model in the series, not only because of network support but also because of its higher hardware foundation.

Battery and charging stay conservative

Battery capacity also separates the lineup. Redmi A7 comes with a 5200 mAh battery, while Redmi A7 Pro 4G and Redmi A7 Pro 5G both carry 6300 mAh units.

Charging is unchanged across the family. All three support 15 W charging through USB Type-C and 7.5 W reverse wired charging. There is one additional detail for the India version of Redmi A7 Pro 4G: it uses a 6300 mAh battery, while the Indonesian unit has a 6000 mAh battery.

Software support adds another layer of difference

Software is another area where the gap becomes clear. Redmi A7 runs Android 15, while Redmi A7 Pro 4G and Redmi A7 Pro 5G already ship with Android 16.

The update policy is also longer on the two Pro models. Redmi A7 gets 2 years of software updates and 4 years of security updates, while Redmi A7 Pro 4G and Redmi A7 Pro 5G each receive 4 years of software updates and 6 years of security updates.

Shared features, separate positioning

Despite their differences, the three phones still share a long list of practical features. Each model includes a mono speaker, a 3.5 mm headphone jack, a power-button fingerprint scanner, triple card slots, and IP52 certification.

The color choices also help separate them. Redmi A7 comes in Black and sky blue, Redmi A7 Pro 4G is offered in Black and sunset orange, and Redmi A7 Pro 5G adds Black, sunset orange, and mist blue.

Price and configuration

In India, the pricing and memory options show how Xiaomi split the series into distinct tiers.

ModelRAM / StoragePrice
Redmi A73/64GB10.499 rupee
Redmi A7 Pro 4G4/64GB11.499 rupee
Redmi A7 Pro 5G4/64GB12.499 rupee
Redmi A7 Pro 5G4/128GB13.499 rupee

Taken together, the lineup leaves Redmi A7 as the most affordable and most basic choice. Redmi A7 Pro 4G offers a more balanced package, while Redmi A7 Pro 5G is the most complete version with a stronger chipset, a 32 MP main camera, larger storage options, and longer software support.
