Huawei has positioned the MatePad Pro Max as a large-screen tablet that stays unusually easy to carry. With a 4.7 mm body and a starting weight of 499 grams, it aims to combine portability with the kind of display size usually reserved for heavier devices.

The device was unveiled at Huawei’s “Innovative Product Launch” event at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center in Bangkok. Huawei also says it is the lightest tablet with a display above 13 inches, while the PaperMatte version weighs 509 grams.

A slim build that stands out

The headline number is the tablet’s 4.7 mm thickness. That makes it slimmer than the iPad Pro, which measures 5.1 mm, and Huawei pairs that profile with 3.55 mm bezels to keep the design looking premium and modern.

Andreas Zimmer, Head of Product at Huawei, said the company used a new structural design so the tablet could remain slim without losing power. He added that Huawei relied on an integrated aluminum unibody design that is smooth, seamless, and still strong.

Large OLED display for work and media

On the front, the MatePad Pro Max carries a 13.2-inch OLED display with 3K resolution and a 144 Hz refresh rate. Huawei says the panel can reach up to 1,400 nits of brightness, which makes it suitable for content viewing, visual work, and multitasking.

The tablet also comes with a PaperMatte Display that uses a nano-etching anti-glare layer. Huawei designed it to reduce reflections and create a more paper-like writing feel when used with the M-Pencil stylus.

Built around productivity use

Huawei is also targeting users who want a tablet for both work and entertainment. The large display, slim bezels, and stylus support make the MatePad Pro Max relevant for writing, presentations, and multimedia use.

The tablet is compatible with a magnetic keyboard and a digital pen. Huawei also prepared cross-device integration with PCs and smartphones so users can move through tasks more smoothly.

Battery, audio, and hardware details

Huawei has not revealed the chipset inside the MatePad Pro Max. However, leaks suggest the device is powered by a Kirin 9 series chip.

For endurance, the tablet includes a 10,400 mAh battery that Huawei says can support up to 14.5 hours of use. Charging is handled through 66W fast charging, while audio gets support from eight speakers for video playback, online meetings, and everyday listening without extra accessories.

Versions and European pricing

The MatePad Pro Max also arrives in a PaperMatte Edition. Huawei is offering several bundled packages for Europe, including options with a Folio Cover and a Glide Keyboard.

Variant Price
MatePad Pro Max PaperMatte Edition 12 GB/256 GB + Folio Cover 1399 euro
MatePad Pro Max PaperMatte Edition 12 GB/256 GB + Glide Keyboard 1499 euro
MatePad Pro Max PaperMatte Edition 12 GB/512 GB + Glide Keyboard 1649 euro

These prices apply to the European market, where retail figures are typically higher because of factors such as taxes.

Plans for Indonesia

Huawei has confirmed that the MatePad Pro Max will also be brought to Indonesia through Huawei Mobile Device Indonesia. The company has not yet announced the local launch schedule or official pricing for the market.

With its 4.7 mm body, 499-gram starting weight, 13.2-inch OLED panel, and PaperMatte option, the MatePad Pro Max is being aimed at users who want a premium tablet with a big screen and a light body. It enters a crowded productivity segment with a design that is clearly built to stand apart.
