Spotify Lets Users Talk to Music, Podcasts, and Audiobooks Through a New AI Chatbot

Author: Qoo Media

Spotify is testing a new way to interact with audio content through Talk to Spotify, an AI chatbot built into its mobile app. The feature allows users to ask about music, audiobooks, and podcasts without leaving Spotify.

Unlike a text-only assistant, Talk to Spotify also accepts spoken requests through a microphone button. Users can therefore communicate with the service by typing in a prompt or speaking directly from the playback interface.

Questions Can Go Beyond Song Discovery

The chatbot is designed to support several types of requests while audio is playing. Users can ask when a song was released, find other works by an audiobook author, or check whether a podcast guest has appeared on another show.

Talk to Spotify can also connect information requests with listening actions. A user who finds a song appealing may ask the service to save it, add it to the queue, or follow the artist.

Spotify has presented the feature as a more personal way to use the platform. Instead of navigating between separate menus, listeners can express a request in a conversational form and continue using the same application.

Music Requests Can Include Mood and Artist Details

Users may ask the chatbot to play an artist they have not previously heard. The request can include additional directions, such as asking for a Bad Bunny track or making the listening atmosphere more energetic.

This approach gives the assistant more context than a basic search term. It also allows users to refine a request after a song begins playing, using either text or voice.

The Test Is Limited to Premium Users

Talk to Spotify is being rolled out in beta to Premium subscribers in the United States, Ireland, and Sweden. It is available through the Spotify mobile application on Android and iPhone for users aged 18 and above.

The service currently supports English only, which limits its immediate reach outside those markets. Spotify has also warned that the feature remains under development and that its responses may not always be accurate or complete.

The chatbot can be opened from the Home and Now Playing sections of the app. According to Spotify’s announcement, the two-way experience is intended to help users choose what to play, explore listening history, and learn more about podcasts and audiobooks.

Spotify has not provided availability details for Indonesia in the information cited by inet.detik.com. For now, users in other markets will need to wait for the company to expand the beta or add further language support.
