Realme’s next step in India appears to be taking shape, with a new device carrying model number RMX5270 now spotted in the Bureau of Indian Standards database. That appearance does not reveal hardware details, but it strongly suggests that Realme 16x is moving closer to an official launch.

The certification listing is dated May 6 and has been linked by Xpertpick to the Realme 16x, which is expected to arrive as the successor to the Realme 15x in India. Realme has not shared any official information about the device so far.

What the BIS listing does and does not show

The BIS database confirms only that the device has gone through a regulatory step for India. It does not disclose specifications, design details, or any launch timeline.

Even so, a new model appearing in BIS is often read as a sign that a product is being prepared for the local market. In this case, the listing adds weight to earlier chatter around the Realme 16x.

Color options and memory variants have already surfaced

Separate leaks point to two color choices for the Indian market: Endurance Brown and Glory White. The same leaks also suggest three memory configurations for the phone.

Those rumored variants are 4GB + 128GB, 6GB + 128GB, and 6GB + 256GB. Realme has not confirmed any of those details.

How the Realme 16x could fit into the lineup

If the name holds, the Realme 16x will sit under the existing Realme 16 family as an additional option. The current lineup already includes the Realme 16, Realme 16 Pro, and Realme 16 Pro+.

A model with an “x” suffix would likely be used to fill a different position in the range. That approach often helps brands spread out price and specification choices without changing the core series identity.

Interest in the broader family has also grown after the Realme 16T 5G appeared in leaked marketing material. That suggests Realme may be preparing a wider expansion of the Realme 16 series.

The Realme 15x sets the benchmark

The expected successor has a clear predecessor to follow. The Realme 15x launched in India in October last year with a price of Rs. 16,999 for the 6GB RAM + 128GB storage version.

The Realme 15x 5G came with a 6.8-inch display and a 144Hz refresh rate. It used the MediaTek Dimensity 6300 chip and offered up to 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB of internal storage.

Its camera setup included a dual rear system led by a 50-megapixel Sony IMX852 sensor. On the front, it also carried a 50-megapixel camera for selfies.

Battery life was one of its main selling points. The phone packed a 7,000mAh battery with 60W wired fast charging and carried an IP69 rating for dust and water resistance.

What remains unconfirmed

At this stage, the most concrete detail is the RMX5270 entry in BIS. Everything else, from the color palette to the storage combinations, remains unverified and should still be treated as rumor.

Because the BIS listing does not include technical specifications, a full picture of the Realme 16x will have to wait for official word from the company. For now, the device is simply looking more prepared for India than before.
