Oppo is moving the Reno 16 series closer to launch with an early pre-order push in China, signaling that the lineup is already in the final stage before its official debut. The company has not confirmed a launch date yet, but the timing suggests the announcement could arrive soon, possibly by the end of the month.
Two models lead the next Reno generation
The Reno 16 family is expected to arrive in two main versions: the standard Reno 16 and the Reno 16 Pro. Both are direct successors to the Reno 15 and Reno 15 Pro, which were released in November last year.
Pre-orders are already live through Oppo’s official store and major platforms in China, including Tmall, JD.com, Douyin, and Pinduoduo. Oppo is also offering a special promotion worth CNY 278 for users who only need to pay an initial deposit of CNY 1.
Camera hardware takes the spotlight
The most attention-grabbing detail around the series is its camera setup. Both models are rumored to feature a 200MP main camera with OIS, putting the Reno 16 series in a strong position for mobile photography.
That combination of a high-resolution sensor and optical stabilization suggests a more ambitious direction for Oppo’s Reno line. It also indicates that the company is aiming to push the series beyond its usual midrange appeal and into a more serious imaging-focused category.
Displays and chips differ between the two variants
The standard Reno 16 is said to use a 6.32-inch OLED display with 1.5K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. It is also expected to run on the MediaTek Dimensity 8500, which would place it in the upper midrange segment.
The Reno 16 Pro is positioned higher with a 6.78-inch LTPO OLED panel, still at 1.5K resolution, and an adaptive 120Hz refresh rate. Under the hood, it is tipped to use the more powerful MediaTek Dimensity 9500s.
Battery and charging add another major selling point
On the Reno 16 Pro, Oppo is reportedly preparing a 7,000mAh battery. That capacity is paired with 80W fast charging and wireless charging, a combination that usually stands out in the premium tier.
This setup shows that Oppo is not focusing only on cameras and displays. Battery life and daily convenience are also part of the appeal, especially for users who rely heavily on their phones throughout the day.
Global launch is also on the horizon
While the first wave is centered on China, the Reno 16 series is also expected to reach global markets between July and August. That approach follows Oppo’s usual launch pattern, with China serving as the starting point before an international rollout.
With upgrades across several key areas, the Reno 16 series is shaping up to be one of Oppo’s more closely watched releases this year. The combination of a 200MP camera, new chipsets, and larger battery options gives the lineup an unusually strong profile ahead of its official unveiling.
