Eligible iPhone Owners Could Receive Up To Rp 1,6 Juta In Apple Settlement, These Models Qualify

Some iPhone users in the United States may soon be eligible for a cash payout after Apple agreed to settle a class-action lawsuit. The amount is expected to fall between $25 and $95 per eligible device, depending on how many claims are filed and how settlement costs are deducted.

The settlement centers on Apple Intelligence devices purchased during a specific window: June 10, 2024 through March 29, 2025. Only users in the United States are covered, and the list of eligible models is limited.

Which iPhone models are included

The devices named in the settlement are the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. Apple’s iPhone 16 family is also covered, including the iPhone 16, iPhone 16e, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max.

That means the payout does not apply to every iPhone owner. It is tied to the models that supported Apple Intelligence during the covered period, and it only applies to purchases made in the United States.

Why the lawsuit was filed

The dispute began in March, when a group of iPhone users accused Apple of delaying a personalized Siri feature that had already been announced at the Worldwide Developer Conference 2024. The complaint also said Apple promoted AI capabilities that were not yet available at the time.

According to the plaintiffs, that promotion created a clear expectation that the features would be ready when the iPhone reached customers. The settlement now puts Apple’s AI messaging under renewed scrutiny, especially for premium devices where announced features can become part of the buying decision.

What the payout could look like

The base compensation is listed at $25 per eligible device. That figure is not fixed, however, because the final amount will depend on how many valid claims are submitted.

If the number of claims becomes very large, the payment per device could be lower than the initial estimate. The maximum payout is set at $95 per device, but that upper figure is not guaranteed for every claimant.

Apple’s position in the settlement

Apple agreed to the settlement without admitting wrongdoing. The company said it acted in good faith and believed its actions complied with the relevant rules, regulations, and laws.

Through a spokesperson, Apple also said it has already rolled out many features since the launch of Apple Intelligence. The company described those features as available in multiple languages, integrated across Apple platforms, useful for everyday tasks, and built with privacy protections at every stage.

Among the features Apple said are already available are Visual Intelligence, Live Translation, Writing Tools, Genmoji, and Clean Up. That statement came as criticism continued over AI capabilities that were promoted before they were fully available.

How eligible users can file a claim

Users who want to submit a claim will need proof of purchase for an eligible device. The required information includes the device serial number, Apple account details, and a phone number.

The settlement has already received preliminary approval. Claim notices are expected to be sent within 45 days, and the compensation process remains limited to the United States, where the class-action case was filed.

For qualifying users, the final payout will still depend on the number of claims and the amount remaining after settlement costs such as legal and administrative fees are deducted. That is why the Rp 1,6 juta figure should be understood as the maximum possible amount per device, not a guaranteed payment for every applicant.
