A huge battery, a 200MP zoom camera, and a next-generation chip are turning the OnePlus 16 into one of the most aggressive flagship leaks in recent memory. The combination suggests that OnePlus is not aiming for a single standout feature, but for a phone that pushes imaging, endurance, and performance at the same time.
Among the leaked details, the battery stands out immediately. The OnePlus 16 is said to carry a 9,000 mAh battery, a capacity that is unusually large for a premium smartphone and one that could make all-day endurance a defining trait.
That battery would be paired with 120W wired fast charging and 50W wireless charging. In practice, that setup is meant to keep the large capacity manageable for daily use rather than turning the phone into a slow-charging device.
A camera setup built around the zoom lens
The most discussed camera change is the reported 200MP periscope telephoto lens. The sensor is said to use Samsung’s HP5 with a 1/1.56-inch size, which should improve zoom quality, especially when shooting distant subjects in low light.
This would mark a major jump from the 50MP telephoto camera on the previous generation. Alongside that zoom lens, the device is also expected to retain a 50MP main camera and a 50MP ultrawide camera, giving it a balanced triple-camera layout for portraits, landscapes, and video use.
There is also talk that the imaging system may share similarities with the OPPO Find N6. That possibility is tied to both brands operating within the BBK Electronics ecosystem, which may allow for more mature camera tuning.
Performance points to a new flagship direction
On the hardware side, the OnePlus 16 is expected to run on the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro, identified by the SM8975 code. The chipset is reportedly built on a 2nm process and is positioned to improve both power efficiency and raw performance.
That kind of platform would naturally support steadier gaming, smoother multitasking, and faster AI processing. OnePlus is also said to include LPDDR6 RAM, which should help with data transfer speed and overall system efficiency.
The display is another area where the phone is apparently being pushed hard. Leaks point to a BOE X5 OLED panel with 1.5K resolution and a refresh rate of up to 240Hz, a combination aimed at users who want very fast screen response for competitive gaming and media consumption.
More than just core specs
Beyond the headline hardware, the OnePlus 16 is also rumored to add a dedicated AI button for quick access to artificial intelligence features. That detail suggests the company wants software interaction to be part of the phone’s identity, not only the camera and battery hardware.
The device is also expected to launch with OxygenOS 17 based on Android 17. If that happens, it would give the phone a newer software foundation right from the start.
Several other features are said to round out the flagship package. These include symmetrical stereo speakers, an X-axis bionic vibration motor, and full water resistance certification.
Taken together, the leaked specification list shows a clear strategy: push hard on battery life, camera reach, and high-end performance in one device. Some reports also suggest the China price could rise by as much as 25 percent compared with the previous generation, which would fit the scale of the upgrades being discussed.
