Tiffany Stratton will put the Women’s United States Championship on the line against Jade Cargill at WWE Night of Champions, and the matchup arrives with real history behind it. Both Superstars have already crossed paths in decisive moments, and this latest meeting adds another layer to a rivalry that has kept shifting hands and momentum.
Stratton and Cargill have each taken turns landing the bigger blow. Stratton once defended her WWE Women’s Championship against Cargill at SummerSlam 2025, while Cargill later ended Stratton’s 301-day reign at Saturday Night’s Main Event the following November.
Why This Match Matters Now
Cargill is no longer chasing the same title picture she was in before WrestleMania 42. After losing the WWE Women’s Title to Rhea Ripley, she has turned her attention back to Stratton, and the path back into contention has been direct.
That renewed push got a boost on the June 5 edition of SmackDown, when Cargill teamed with Michin against Stratton and Charlotte Flair. Cargill scored the pin on the titleholder in that match and earned her Women’s U.S. Title opportunity in the process.
The rivalry has only intensified since then. Stratton cost Cargill her First Round Fatal 4-Way Match in the Queen of the Ring Tournament, and Cargill later answered by interfering in a tag team match involving Stratton and Chelsea Green against Michin and B-Fab.
After that bout, Jade Cargill and her allies put Stratton through a 3-on-1 beatdown, adding another flashpoint to a feud that already had plenty of unfinished business. WWE.com notes that the two will clash again on Saturday, June 27, with Night of Champions streaming live on the ESPN App with an ESPN Unlimited plan in the United States and on Netflix internationally.
A Rivalry Built on Momentum Swings
Both women are among the most physically elite Superstars on SmackDown, and that has helped make every encounter feel like a battle for control rather than just another title defense. With Stratton carrying the championship and Cargill arriving after multiple recent confrontations, the rematch has the feel of another turning point in their ongoing fight for supremacy.
The question now is whether Stratton can keep the title after all the back-and-forth, or whether Cargill will use this latest shot to shift the rivalry once again.
