Samsung may be preparing one of its busiest Unpacked events in a long time, with new foldables expected to share the stage with a product category the company has not entered before. Reports point to a July 22 Galaxy Unpacked event in London, where Samsung could unveil not only the next Galaxy Z Fold and Galaxy Z Flip models, but also its first smart glasses.
The timing has drawn attention because the lineup appears to go beyond a routine refresh. In addition to the Galaxy Z Fold 8, Galaxy Z Flip 8, and Galaxy Watch 9 series, Samsung is also said to be lining up a new wearable called Galaxy Glasses.
A London stage and a broader launch plan
The event date comes from Seoul Economic Daily, which cited industry sources for the July 22 schedule. Samsung has not confirmed the timing publicly, so the details remain unverified for now.
If the London location is accurate, it would also mark a notable change in Samsung’s usual launch pattern. The company has often chosen the United States or South Korea for earlier Unpacked events, while last year’s Galaxy Z Fold 7 launch took place in Brooklyn, New York.
Foldables remain central to the event
Even with the attention on a new wearable, Samsung’s foldable lineup is still expected to be the main attraction. The strongest expectation is for the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Flip 8, which would continue the company’s current foldable series.
There is also talk of an additional book-style foldable with a wider design. This model is being referred to as Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide, or “Fold Wide,” and it is described as having a more horizontal shape than Samsung’s current foldable phones.
When opened, the device is said to offer an aspect ratio that feels closer to a tablet. That wider format is being watched as part of Samsung’s effort to strengthen its position in the foldable market.
Galaxy Glasses could mark a new category
The most notable development is Samsung’s reported move into smart glasses. The device, currently known as Galaxy Glasses, is said to be developed with Gentle Monster, a partnership that suggests the company is aiming for both technology and everyday wearability.
Galaxy Glasses are expected to run on Android XR, the operating system developed with Google. The device is also reported to integrate Google’s Gemini, pointing to an AI-driven assistant experience.
Early details describe the wearable as including speakers, microphones, and a camera. At the same time, it is said not to feature a built-in display, which would set it apart from many augmented reality products that focus on visual output.
That approach suggests Samsung may be emphasizing audio, voice interaction, and contextual AI processing instead of a screen-led experience. If that direction holds, Galaxy Glasses could arrive as a lighter, more assistant-like wearable rather than a full visual headset.
A wider wearable race is taking shape
Samsung’s reported entry into smart glasses would add another layer to the competition in premium wearables. The company would likely face names such as Meta and Xiaomi in that space, while also trying to maintain momentum in foldables.
The combination of a new Galaxy Z lineup, a possible Fold Wide model, and the debut of smart glasses points to a broader strategy. Samsung appears to be preparing a launch that could expand its ecosystem across phones, watches, and AI-powered wearables at the same time.
The smart glasses are also expected to arrive in the third quarter, which suggests the Unpacked stage could serve as an introduction before commercial availability begins later. If the reported lineup proves accurate, Samsung’s July event could become one of its most crowded showcase moments in recent years.
