Privacy and Live Translation Take Center Stage on Samsung’s Galaxy S26 Ultra for Travelers

For travelers who move between airports, trains, hotels, and crowded tourist spots, Samsung is positioning the Galaxy S26 Ultra as more than a premium phone. The company is framing it as a device that helps users handle foreign text, protect private information, and keep daily travel tasks moving with less friction.

In Indonesia, that message was reinforced when Samsung Electronics Indonesia introduced the new capabilities in Jakarta on 15 May 2026. The company emphasized that AI is now meant to support everyday use in a more practical way, especially for people who travel often and need a phone that adapts to changing situations.

AI tools designed for travel

One of the main updates is Circle to Search 3.0, which now includes Scroll and Translate. This feature lets users keep translating text continuously while scrolling, without having to repeat the process each time the screen moves.

That approach is useful when reading foreign restaurant reviews, checking international travel sites, or trying to understand transport instructions in a new country. Samsung also expanded Circle to Search with camera integration, allowing users to activate visual search by pressing the home button and pointing the camera at an object they want to identify.

In a travel setting, that visual search can be used to look up recommendations from specific items or objects. Samsung gave an example involving outfit selection from the clothes a user has brought, with recommendations that follow the prompt entered into the device.

Privacy in public places

Samsung is also adding a privacy layer through a feature called Privacy Display. The technology narrows the viewing angle so content stays clearly visible only to the person looking at the screen from the front.

That matters in places such as airports, public transport, and busy tourist areas where screens are often visible to people nearby. When users open a boarding pass, check hotel reservation details, or handle financial transactions, the display becomes dimmer when viewed from the side.

The feature reflects a broader direction for premium smartphones, where AI support and privacy protection are being combined in one device. Samsung says the AI on the Galaxy S26 Ultra works in the background so users can feel assisted without needing many extra steps.

A more contextual approach to AI

Ilham Indrawan, MX Product Marketing Senior Manager at Samsung Electronics Indonesia, said Samsung wants AI to do more than act as an additional feature. He said the technology needs to work intelligently and effortlessly to help protect and simplify users’ lives.

That statement matches a wider shift in the premium smartphone market, where AI functions are becoming more contextual. AI is no longer used only for photo editing or chatbots, but also for visual navigation, real-time translation, data security, and on-device personal assistance.

Samsung has also continued to expand the Galaxy AI ecosystem in recent years. The move is part of its effort to compete in the global premium smartphone market, where users increasingly expect functions that fit everyday activities.

Availability and pricing in Indonesia

The Galaxy S26 Series is available through Samsung’s official Indonesia website and its Samsung Store network in Indonesia. From 1 to 31 May 2026, Samsung is offering promotions with total benefits of up to Rp3.9 million.

Those benefits include cashback of up to Rp3.5 million for Galaxy wearables, accessories, and trade-in programs. Samsung is also offering installment plans starting at Rp600 thousand per month with 0% interest and 0% down payment.

For Indonesia, the Galaxy S26 Ultra comes in three memory configurations. The 12GB/256GB model is priced at Rp24,499,000, the 12GB/512GB version costs Rp27,499,000, and the top 16GB/1TB variant is sold at Rp31,999,000.

With stronger AI assistance, tighter privacy protection, and features aimed at travel use, the Galaxy S26 Ultra is being presented as a smartphone built for modern mobility. Samsung is placing it as a premium device that aims to stay useful in real-world situations, not only on a specification sheet.
