Missing Dickinson Girl Found Safe, Mother’s Ex-Boyfriend Arrested in La Marque

Authorities in Harris County located a missing 6-year-old girl and canceled the AMBER Alert that had been issued earlier on Saturday morning. Deputies also arrested 36-year-old James Ramirez in connection with the case, according to the Harris County Precinct 4 Constable’s Office.

The girl had last been seen around 6:30 p.m. Friday in the 12300 block of 12th Street in Dickinson. Officials later found her and Ramirez in La Marque, and EMS checked the child as a precaution before she was expected to be returned to her mother.

How the case unfolded

The Precinct 4 Constable’s Office said the child’s disappearance prompted a rapid response that led to the alert and the search. By Saturday morning, authorities said deputies had located the girl and taken Ramirez into custody.

Constable Mark Herman identified Ramirez as the mother’s ex-boyfriend, not the child’s biological father. That detail helped clarify the relationship between the suspect and the girl as investigators worked to resolve the case.

Officials credit law enforcement response

Herman praised the teams involved in the search and said the case ended safely. “Outstanding work by our Special Operations Unit, Special Victims Unit Investigators, law enforcement partners, and everyone involved in bringing this case to a safe resolution,” Herman said.

The information released by authorities did not include additional details about the circumstances that led to the disappearance. Officials said the focus remained on the child’s safety and the investigation handled by the Harris County Precinct 4 Constable’s Office.
