A cruise ship passenger was found dead on the Caribbean island of St. Kitts and Nevis after vanishing during a solo hike on Mount Liamuiga, local authorities said. The man, identified as Chinese national Wang Zyuan, 33, had been reported missing after he went off trail and later called emergency services for help.
Police said Wang was last seen while hiking the Mount Liamuiga trail on May 27. He told 911 that afternoon that he was lost, but contact was lost soon after, and search crews found his body days later.

Officials said volunteers and crews from multiple agencies searched the area for several days before the body was recovered. The police statement did not release a cause of death and said the investigation remains open.
Authorities also urged the public to avoid speculation and rely on official updates. In their statement, police offered condolences to Wang’s family, friends, and associates during what they described as a painful time.
The trail and its conditions
Mount Liamuiga sits on a dormant volcano and rises to nearly 3,800 feet, making it the highest peak on St. Kitts. A cruise ship company that promotes the hike on its website has described the route as extremely strenuous and warned that it can be muddy or slippery.
The case has drawn attention to the risks of hiking alone on difficult terrain in the Caribbean, especially on trails that can change quickly with weather and ground conditions. Police have not shared additional details about what happened before Wang was found, and the inquiry is still continuing.
