Rich Paul says his relationship with Adele did not begin with a big gesture or a public move. Instead, the sports agent described it as something that happened naturally through shared circles and repeated run-ins.
On the June 9 episode of Craig Melvin’s Glass Half Full podcast, the Klutch Sports Group founder said he had known Adele for some time before they became a couple. Speaking with www.today.com, Paul said he never tried to get “fresh” with people in comfortable circles because they often have to deal with that attention.
How the Two Got Closer
Paul said he and Adele kept seeing each other, laughing and joking whenever they crossed paths. He described the early dynamic as “cordial,” with the connection building over time rather than through a dramatic moment.
When Melvin asked what changed, Paul joked, “Until it became not so cordial. Until I became a person of interest.” Melvin replied, “A suspect,” as the conversation turned playful.
What Paul Knew About Adele’s Music
Paul also admitted he was not deeply familiar with Adele’s catalog before they met. He said he obviously knew the “monster hits,” but did not know all the songs he knows now.
That detail matched the low-key tone of the story Paul told throughout the interview. The relationship, he said, was not built on a big reveal, but on familiarity and time.
A Private Relationship That Kept Growing
Paul and Adele began dating in 2021 and have kept their relationship relatively private. The pair fueled engagement rumors in 2024 after Adele responded to a fan’s concert poster with, “‘Will you marry me?’ I can’t marry you because I’m already getting married, so I can’t.”
Paul also joked that despite being with one of the world’s biggest pop stars, he still considers himself “the best singer in the house.” Craig’s full conversation with Paul is available on TODAY’s YouTube channel or wherever podcasts are heard.
