Jacob Misiorowski Rewrites The Speed Record Again, And Now He Is Closing In On History

Jacob Misiorowski keeps pushing the limits for a starting pitcher. The Milwaukee Brewers right-hander opened Friday’s game against the Philadelphia Phillies with a five-pitch strikeout of Kyle Schwarber, and the final pitch was clocked at 105 mph on broadcast.

MLB’s official pitch data put that same pitch at 104.5 mph, which still topped the 103.7 mph mark Misiorowski had set just days earlier on Sunday. In one inning, he broke his own record four times as his fastball kept climbing past 104 mph.

A First Inning Built On Power

Misiorowski did not slow down after the opening strikeout. He struck out Trea Turner on four pitches and Bryce Harper on three, finishing the first inning with 12 pitches and a slowest fastball of 102.3 mph.

The inning showed how quickly he is turning elite velocity into a regular part of his game. By the time the frame ended, he had already erased the previous record he set and pushed the benchmark even higher.

How Close He Is To The Overall Record

The fastest pitch ever recorded overall still belongs to Boston Red Sox closer Aroldis Chapman, who reached 105.8 mph in 2010. That leaves Misiorowski just 1.3 mph away from the top mark, a gap that is small on paper but still significant at this speed range.

Beyond the radar gun, Misiorowski has also been one of baseball’s best pitchers this season. Alongside Los Angeles Dodgers superstar Shohei Ohtani and Philadelphia Phillies ace Cristopher Sánchez, he is part of a Cy Young race that is shaping up to be one of the most competitive in years.
