Bo Nickal is set for one of the most unusual stages in UFC history, with a fight booked on the South Lawn of the White House. The former Penn State star will face Kyle Daukaus in the second bout of UFC Freedom 250, an event that begins at 8 p.m. and marks the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.
The card was initially announced by President Donald Trump in July 2025, giving the event a political and symbolic backdrop rarely seen in combat sports. For Nickal, it is another chance to add to a UFC run that has already drawn attention well beyond Happy Valley.
Why this fight matters to Penn State followers
Nickal’s name still carries strong weight in State College because of what he accomplished at Penn State. He won three NCAA titles and three Big Ten titles in four seasons, including back-to-back undefeated years as a junior and senior, and he finished his college career with a 120-3 record.
His ties to Centre County never disappeared after college. Nickal has partnered with American Top Team to open an MMA gym in Pleasant Gap, and his father, Jason, remains the State College wrestling head coach.
A watch party built around the matchup
Interest in the fight has already reached the local business scene. Happy Valley Live in the State College area is hosting a watch party for fans who want to follow the bout together.
Tickets are $50 each and include two drink tickets, a raffle ticket for a Pit Boss grill, food, and a meet and greet with Penn State and Nittany Lion Wrestling Club wrestlers.
What Nickal is bringing into the octagon
Nickal enters with an 8-1 MMA record and has won seven of his eight fights by finish. Four of those wins came by submission, and three came by knockout.
His only loss came against Reinier de Ridder by TKO in May 2025, but he answered that setback with a knockout win over Rodolfo Vieira in November. That rebound gives him momentum heading into another high-profile appearance.
What Daukaus brings to the card
Daukaus is no soft landing. The Pennsylvania native is 17-4-1 in his career and arrives on a six-fight winning streak.
He has finished his last four opponents early, with two wins by knockout and two by decision, and both of his last two victories came in less than a minute.
UFC Freedom 250 will stream exclusively on Paramount+, adding another layer of accessibility for viewers who are not making the trip to Washington.
