Jey Uso is back in a major singles spot, and the reaction from many WWE fans is turning sharply negative again. His latest win in the King of the Ring tournament has drawn a wave of backlash online, including more than 70,000 dislikes on YouTube at the time of writing.
The response matters because WWE is once again placing Uso near the center of a big storyline. He advanced past LA Knight, Finn Balor and Royce Keys on SmackDown, and he now faces Je’Von Evans in the semifinals with a spot in the Night of Champions final on the line.
A Familiar Fan Backlash
This is not the first time one of Uso’s big singles victories has triggered a strong negative reaction. Forbes notes that the same pattern showed up twice last year, including after he beat Austin Theory in under 30 seconds on Raw and again after he won a battle royal to earn a title shot against CM Punk.
The repeated pushback has turned Uso into a polarizing figure in the Internet Wrestling Community. Even while he remains popular with a large part of the WWE audience, the loudest online reaction has often focused on frustration over how strongly he is being pushed.
Why The Reaction Feels Bigger This Time
Uso’s current run comes after a very short World Heavyweight Championship reign and a quick return to the tag team picture. He shocked fans by beating Gunther at WrestleMania 41 in 2025, but he held the title for only 51 days before WWE moved him away from the main event scene.
By December 2025, Uso had reunited with Jimmy Uso as a tag team, and he is now again tied closely to The Bloodline storyline with Roman Reigns. That reunion is giving WWE another shot at a proven angle, but the response suggests the formula is wearing thin for some viewers.
The Bloodline Fatigue Factor
The Bloodline has been one of WWE’s most important storylines over the past several years, but the current version is not landing the same way. Last week’s Raw also posted its lowest average viewership since its Netflix debut in January 2025, adding more attention to possible fan fatigue.
That fatigue appears to be aimed not only at The Bloodline itself, but also at the repeated spotlight on Uso as a singles threat. The feeling among some fans is that his push is coming at the expense of overlooked names like LA Knight.
Uso has acknowledged the negative reactions and said he is taking them in stride, according to the coverage. Even so, the continued backlash leaves WWE facing a decision about whether to keep leaning into the push or adjust course before the response grows even louder.
