Bernalillo County prosecutors have dropped charges against Bailey Zimmerman after the district attorney said he made full restitution. The case had centered on allegations that the country singer caused about $16,000 in damage at Sandia Resort & Casino.
What investigators said happened
Court documents obtained by www.kob.com say investigators accused Zimmerman of damaging the property after he canceled his show on May 27. They alleged he threw instruments during sound check, tripped over himself, shoved band members, and later returned to his hotel room before calling off the performance.
Security footage reportedly showed Zimmerman spitting toward a security officer. Cleaning staff found his hotel room in shambles the next day, according to investigators.
Zimmerman apologizes as case is resolved
On Tuesday, Zimmerman apologized after charges were filed. “To my fans who bought tickets and showed up expecting a performance, I am so sorry, you deserved better from me,” he said in part of his statement.
On Wednesday, his lawyer said the charges were dropped after Zimmerman “took immediate responsibility for his mistake.” The statement also thanked the Pueblo of Sandia and the District Attorney’s Office for what it called a “just and swift resolution.”
The district attorney said the charges were dropped because Zimmerman made full restitution. www.kob.com reported the case after prosecutors moved to dismiss it.
