Wimbledon’s second week opens with a major Italian focus, as Flavio Cobolli and Jasmine Paolini both play for a place in the quarter-finals. Their matches come on Monday in the second day of the round of 16, and both draw opponents who have already shown they can make life difficult.
Cobolli Opens the Day Against De Minaur
Cobolli will be first on court on Court 1 at 14:00 Italian time against Alex de Minaur. The match brings together the fifth and ninth seeds, and it is the first meeting of the tournament between two top-10 players.
De Minaur leads both the ranking battle and the head-to-head record, having won their two previous encounters in 2024. But Cobolli arrives in a very different place now, and the match is expected to be more balanced than their past results suggest. Both players are chasing a second Wimbledon quarter-final, with Cobolli aiming to reach the last eight for the second straight year.
Paolini Tries to Extend Her Run on Centre Court
Paolini will also play in the featured programme, opening Centre Court at 14:30 against Alexandra Eala. The Italian is the 13th seed, while Eala is seeded 29th and reached this stage after beating Iga Swiatek in the third round.
The only previous meeting between them went Eala’s way in Dubai in February, and the Filipino left-hander’s varied, change-of-pace style could again cause problems. Paolini has looked better as the tournament has gone on, though, which gives her a strong chance to keep her Wimbledon run alive.

What Else Is on the Day
After Cobolli and de Minaur, Court 1 continues with Madison Keys against Linda Noskova around 16:30. That match pits the 26th and 9th seeds against each other, with both players arriving in strong form and looking capable of going deep at Wimbledon.
The final match on that court is Taylor Fritz against Alexander Bublik, scheduled for around 18:30. Their head-to-head is level at 4-4, although Fritz has won both of their grass-court meetings, including the most recent one in the Stuttgart semi-finals.
The winner will face either Zverev or Lehecka in the next round. On Court 2, the day’s singles programme is completed by Krueger-Kostyuk and Bouzkova-Mertens, the first and second matches from 12:00.
Wimbledon remains available live on Sky Sport and in streaming on Now TV, as the round of 16 continues to take shape at the All England Club.
