Joe Amabile says a recent whole-body MRI uncovered what doctors believe is an early-stage brain tumor, and he now faces surgery in two weeks. The “Bachelor in Paradise” star shared the update in a video on Instagram, saying the finding came as a complete shock.

“I definitely wasn’t expecting this,” Amabile said. “I think it’s one of those things where you’re like, ‘oh, something like this can never happen to me.’ And here I am.”

In a caption on the post, Amabile said the past month has brought “a lot of ups and downs” and that multiple scans and MRIs led to the diagnosis. He wrote that he is doing his best to stay positive and is grateful for support from family and friends.
