The Milwaukee Brewers’ July 17 game against the Miami Marlins will go ahead as scheduled despite wildfire smoke concerns in the region. First pitch at American Family Field is set for 6:40 p.m., and the stadium hotline indicated that the retractable roof will be open.

Fans who would rather not attend can exchange their tickets for another 2026 regular-season home game. The Brewers said the option will remain available while the club continues to monitor conditions affecting Milwaukee.

Game Remains on Schedule

Major League Baseball notified the Brewers that Friday night’s game would be played as planned, according to a team release issued at 3:40 p.m. July 17. The club said the health of fans, staff and players remains its highest priority.

The team encouraged ticket holders to check its game-updates page for additional information. www.jsonline.com reported that the roof-status hotline message listed the roof as open.

Smoke Raises Health Questions

Canadian wildfire smoke blanketed parts of the Midwest and East Coast, prompting cancellations of some outdoor activities. American Family Field’s retractable roof and adjustable back panels can reduce some smoke flow into the venue, but they do not eliminate air-quality concerns.

Brewers manager Pat Murphy said the issue required serious attention before the game. “Obviously, it’s all about the health of the players and the fans and our staff – the whole thing, anybody in the ballpark,” Murphy said.

“We want to be 100% on top of it,” Murphy added. “We don’t want to just blow it off because we don’t deal with it very often.”

Weekend Conditions Could Shift

The National Weather Service expected conditions in Milwaukee to improve on Friday, although the improvement was expected to be temporary. Smoke was forecast to return on Saturday, potentially making the Friday night game the least affected event of the weekend.

Elsewhere, the Mets and Phillies played their scheduled game at Citizens Bank Park after an earlier start time was announced. Personnel said smoke was only moderately disruptive to play, though that did not address potential cumulative health risks.

For Brewers ticket holders, the exchange policy offers an alternative if conditions or personal health concerns change before first pitch. The team said eligible fans can select another regular-season home game in 2026.
