Fatal Influence Capitalizes on a Costly Distraction
Paige and Brie Bella withstood an aggressive start from Fatal Influence, and Brie changed the momentum after receiving the hot tag. Her Yes Kicks put Henley in trouble, while Paige also stopped Jayne when she first tried to interfere.
The champions appeared close to retaining when Paige rolled up an opponent after Brie took Henley out of the action. Jayne returned, shoved Paige and created the opening Reid needed to score the winning pinfall for Fatal Influence.
The result placed Henley and Reid at the center of the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship picture, with Jayne playing a decisive role from ringside. www.wwe.com described the win as Fatal Influence capturing gold through their combined effort.
Danhausen Gets Help From KAThausen
Danhausen’s No Disqualification Match against JD McDonagh began with Dominik Mysterio using Danhausen’s New York Knicks jersey to distract him. McDonagh and Mysterio then used their numbers advantage to batter Danhausen and tear the jersey apart.
Danhausen rallied after putting the jersey back on, countering McDonagh’s brainbuster attempt into a Stunner and suplexing Mysterio. The Judgment Day regained control until the Minihausens arrived and swarmed both rivals.
The biggest surprise came when Danhausen placed his stuffed cat into the cloning machine and Towns emerged. The Knicks star chokeslammed McDonagh and drove Mysterio through a table, allowing Danhausen to finish McDonagh with the Triple D.
Valkyria’s Victory Takes a Dark Turn
Lyra Valkyria defeated former friend and teammate Bayley after a physical encounter that left Valkyria with a bloody nose. Bayley targeted the injury with a crossface, but Valkyria countered a Bayley to Belly into a modified Bulldog submission that put Bayley to sleep.
The conflict did not end with the bell, as Valkyria slammed Bayley into the steel post and reapplied the submission hold. She then drove Bayley onto the steel steps, extending the damage after already securing the victory.
Punk and Rhodes Survive Gunther and Zayn
CM Punk and Cody Rhodes entered as SummerSlam opponents but worked together effectively against Gunther and Sami Zayn. The match swung rapidly as Zayn landed a Helluva Kick on Punk, Rhodes hit Cross Rhodes on Zayn and Punk answered with a GTS for Gunther.
Gunther later trapped Punk in a Sleeper and appeared set to win after Rhodes broke up the sequence with Cross Rhodes. Zayn interrupted the pin attempt, but Aldis emerged from beneath the ring, pulled the referee away and struck Gunther with the Undisputed WWE Title.
Punk followed with another GTS, giving Rhodes the chance to pin Gunther and seal the tag team win. The finish added another unexpected twist to a night defined by interference, shifting alliances and post-match attacks.
