The Minnesota Twins and Philadelphia Phillies will bring sharply different pieces of baseball history to Iowa when they meet on Aug. 13 in the Field of Dreams game. Both clubs have unveiled throwback-inspired uniforms that pair vintage styling with sleeve patches tied to their past.
The matchup will be the third Major League Baseball game staged at the Field of Dreams park in Dyersville, Iowa. It also marks the venue’s return after renovations and expansion following its most recent MLB game in 2022.

The Minnesota Twins will wear all-white uniforms with navy blue pinstripes, a navy “Twins” wordmark, and red trim. The tail of the final “s” sweeps beneath the team name, while the cap uses the familiar white interlocked “T” and red “C” on navy blue.
Minnesota’s sleeve patch revives the “Minnie and Paul” logo, which first appeared in 1961. The design was used on the club’s home uniforms from 1961 through 1986 and on road uniforms during several stretches ending in 1986.
The “Minnie and Paul” imagery remains a prominent part of the Twins’ identity at Target Field. A 46-foot display above center field lights up when a Minnesota player hits a home run.
Phillies Revive a 1930s Road Uniform
The Philadelphia Phillies will take the field in gray uniforms modeled after the road look the club wore from 1939 through 1941. A slanted red “Phillies” wordmark with a navy outline crosses the chest, paired with a navy cap carrying a bold red “P.”
Philadelphia’s patch recreates the emblem the team wore in 1939, when the league marked what was then believed to be baseball’s centennial anniversary. That celebration was tied to the later-disputed belief that Abner Doubleday invented the game in 1839.
According to ESPN, the new uniforms were announced Monday for the matchup at the Iowa ballpark beside the site used for the 1989 film Field of Dreams. The setting has become an annual-style showcase for uniforms that draw directly from MLB history.
MLB held its first Field of Dreams game in 2021, when the Chicago White Sox beat the New York Yankees 9-8. The Chicago Cubs then defeated the Cincinnati Reds 4-2 in the 2022 edition before the venue’s return for Twins-Phillies.
