The Golden State Warriors will face the Miami Heat without four of their top players in their upcoming road game. Steph Curry and Jonathan Kuminga have been officially ruled out due to ankle soreness and knee tendinitis, respectively. ESPN’s Shams Charania also reported that Jimmy Butler and Draymond Green are unlikely to play against the Heat.
Curry revealed that he initially injured his ankle during the San Antonio game and aggravated it again against Orlando. He told reporters, “Those are the things that you just try to play through and try to figure out how to build momentum.” Despite the injury, Curry has performed well, averaging nearly 30 points on 48 percent shooting and 39 percent from three-point range in his last five games.
The Warriors remain hopeful about the return of Curry, Butler, and Green for their next home game against the Portland Trail Blazers at Chase Center. According to Charania, the team is optimistic that these key players will recover in time for Friday’s matchup. Meanwhile, veteran guard Buddy Hield is listed as questionable due to illness, and center Al Horford will miss the back-to-back games with a toe injury.
Miami also has injury concerns heading into the game. Tyler Herro is sidelined with an ankle injury, and Bam Adebayo is listed as questionable due to a toe sprain. These absences could impact the Heat’s rotation and game plan against the Warriors.
Curry scored 34 points in 34 minutes during Tuesday’s loss to the Orlando Magic but indicated he would monitor his ankle before deciding on his availability. He said, “We’re just looking at how it responds because I did it again in the first half tonight.” This cautious approach underlines the uncertainty about his participation in Miami.
The Warriors have struggled to maintain their “Strength in Numbers” slogan during this road trip, especially with key players sidelined. They will need strong performances from their role players if they hope to end the six-game road journey on a positive note against the Heat.
