New Documents Reveal Closer Connections Between Chomsky and Jeffrey Epstein Than Known

Documents released by US lawmakers reveal that renowned linguist Noam Chomsky had closer ties with Jeffrey Epstein than previously known. The correspondence shows they maintained regular contact involving in-depth discussions across various topics, suggesting a relationship deeper than occasional encounters.

A letter attributed to Chomsky describes his interactions with Epstein as a “most valuable experience.” In this undated letter, Chomsky praises Epstein’s knowledge of the global financial system and recounts Epstein connecting him with notable figures, including a Norwegian diplomat and former Israeli prime minister Ehud Barak.

Chomsky admitted to receiving around $270,000 from an account linked to Epstein during the settlement of funds from his first two marriages. However, he maintains that no money came directly from Epstein. The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) noted in a statement that it reviewed its ties to Epstein in 2020 and has taken steps to improve gift acceptance and support sexual abuse survivors.

The released emails also show Epstein offering Chomsky access to his residences in New York and New Mexico, although it is unclear whether Chomsky ever used these offers. Epstein had a history of sexual offenses, having pleaded guilty to solicitation of prostitution involving a minor and died by suicide while awaiting federal sex-trafficking trial.

Chomsky’s association with Epstein adds to growing scrutiny of influential academics linked to Epstein. Larry Summers recently stepped down from a teaching position at Harvard after renewed questions arose about his email exchanges with Epstein. The University of Arizona and Chomsky’s representatives have not issued comments on the matter.

Epstein’s connections with prominent political, business, and academic figures continue to draw attention amid renewed investigations. Legislative efforts recently pressured the US Justice Department to release more files related to Epstein, fueling bipartisan interest in the scope of his network and influence.
