The beloved Quebec game show La Fureur returned Saturday night on ICI Télé, evoking a near three-decade-old nostalgia trip for viewers. Véronique Cloutier, the long-time host for 28 years, enthusiastically opened the 90-minute special, highlighting the show’s enduring appeal.
This year’s competition saw the women’s team determined to win after last year’s narrow loss. Patricia Paquin, Fabiola Aladin, Pascale Renaud-Hébert, and captain Élyse Marquis led the ladies to a solid 23-13 victory over the men, despite trailing by just one point prior to the final round.
The men’s team, including Jean-Philippe Perras, Irdens Exantus, David Savard, and captain Alex Perron, fought back mid-game. Exantus’s performance in the “Song Pit” segment brought the score to a close 14-13, building suspense before the women secured their win with three successful final answers.
Musical performances remained a core element, fueling both nostalgia and contemporary excitement. The ephemeral trio Infini-T reunited after 24 years to perform their hit Si, captivating the audience. Lou-Adriane Cassidy, recently named female artist of the year at ADISQ, energized the show with her modern hit Dis-moi dis-moi dis-moi and announced an additional concert date at MTELUS in Montreal next June.
Adding to the evening’s charm, comedians Phil Roy, Félix-Antoine Tremblay, and Bryan Audet dressed as characters from the film Les Guerrières de la K-pop and performed the recognizable song Briller. A standout moment was Martine St-Clair’s medley, including Ce soir l’amour est dans tes yeux, which dazzled the crowd under a hall illuminated by glowing phone lights.
Organizers singled out Élyse Marquis and Fabiola Aladin as stars of the match for their crucial contributions to the women’s triumph. The men faltered on simpler questions but regained ground with classics like Tico-Tico and La Bamba.
Although the live broadcast can’t be streamed or replayed due to expensive rights, fans may look forward to the next edition. This special La Fureur revived classic energy and showcased the timeless spirit that has kept viewers engaged for nearly three decades.
