A Celebs Go Dating star, Wayne Lineker, was rushed to hospital after developing a serious illness that left him unable to walk. The E4 personality initially thought he was having a heart attack before his family took him to the hospital, where he was diagnosed with chronic pneumonia.
Wayne shared a detailed update on Instagram, explaining that his health issues began during a flight from Mauritius to Dubai. He believes he caught a severe infection onboard, which rapidly worsened.
He described waking up at 3 am unable to walk and called his daughter for help. Paramedics took him to the hospital, where he spent 10 days in intensive care before being moved to a respiratory ward.
The 63-year-old revealed he is now out of the danger zone but remains hospitalized. He still cannot walk and faces approximately two months of intense rehabilitation and physiotherapy.
Wayne said, “Catching pneumonia at my age is very dangerous,” highlighting the severity of his condition. Despite his struggles, he has been receiving visits from close family and friends, which have boosted his morale.
In a generous move during his recovery, Wayne announced he would donate a £5,000 festive prize to his followers as a way of giving back. This gesture shows his commitment to staying connected with fans despite his health challenges.
Earlier this year, Wayne also faced difficulties when his Ibiza club, O Beach, had to close temporarily due to severe weather. Torrential rain and strong winds forced the closure for the first time in years.
Wayne’s past on Celebs Go Dating included candid moments about his love life and dating preferences. He once surprised viewers by saying he had never dated a woman over 30, sparking controversy.
The former matchmaking show participant remains under medical care as he works toward recovery. His situation underscores the dangers of pneumonia and the importance of medical attention for severe infections.
