The Phoenix Suns ended the Los Angeles Lakers’ seven-game winning streak with a decisive 125-108 victory on Monday night. Despite losing their leading scorer Devin Booker early to a right groin injury, the Suns displayed resilience and teamwork to dominate the game.
Booker scored 11 points before exiting with two minutes left in the first quarter. Dillon Brooks stepped up, leading the Suns with 33 points, including an efficient 11-of-16 shooting in the first half. Collin Gillespie contributed 16 points in the final quarter, finishing with a career-high 28 points and hitting a team-record eight 3-pointers.
The Suns forced 22 turnovers from the Lakers, capitalizing on the defensive pressure to build a 21-point lead by the third quarter. Phoenix, which had lost three of its previous four games, regained momentum with balanced scoring and solid perimeter shooting.
On the Lakers’ side, Luka Doncic delivered an outstanding individual performance, scoring a game-high 38 points. However, the team faltered collectively after a strong first quarter by Doncic. Austin Reaves added 16 points, but the Lakers appeared fatigued after playing three home games in four nights.
LeBron James scored 10 points, maintaining his remarkable streak of scoring in double digits in 1,297 consecutive regular-season games. He preserved the streak with a three-pointer late in the game, which began in early January 2007.
Brooks’ early offensive surge and Gillespie’s clutch shooting in the second half proved vital in securing the victory. The Suns’ balanced attack overshadowed the Lakers, who could not sustain their early energy and precision.
Looking ahead, the Suns will face Houston on Friday, while the Lakers travel to Toronto on Thursday. Both teams aim to regroup and improve in their upcoming road games after Monday’s challenging contest.
