Swim & Dive Team to Celebrate 12 Seniors at Friday’s Senior Day Meet vs. Mount St. Mary’s

The American University swim & dive team will celebrate its 12 senior athletes during the upcoming Senior Day meet against Mount St. Mary’s. The recognition ceremony is scheduled for Friday at 3:50 p.m. at the pool deck, followed by competition starting at 4 p.m. This event marks the seniors’ final home meet before the Patriot League Championships.

The meet will be livestreamed on YouTube, allowing supporters to watch key events including 3-meter diving, various freestyle and medley relays, and individual races like the 100 butterfly and 200 individual medley. The sequence also features diving from the 1-meter board and concludes with the 200 freestyle relay.

This Senior Day offers an important competitive tune-up for the team, which has just two more meets left in the season before league championships. The meet also honors a group of seniors who have contributed significantly to the program both athletically and academically throughout their tenure.

In the previous encounter with Mount St. Mary’s at Emmitsburg, American University’s women’s team clinched the dual meet victory. They won eight out of twelve events, showing strong performances led by rising junior Kate Williams, who captured the 200 and 400 freestyle titles. Senior Isabel McGovern and Dylan Moulton contributed key relay and individual wins, with McGovern excelling in the 50 butterfly. Sophomore diver Peyton Thurman won the 1-meter event with a notable score of 221.70.

The 2025-26 season has seen several highlights for the Eagles. The women’s team secured multiple dual meet victories over UMBC, Catholic, Howard, and Lafayette, while the men’s team triumphed against Catholic and Lafayette. At the George Mason Patriot Invitational, senior Isabel McGovern won the women’s 100 and 200 fly. Sophomore Piper Crosby set a school record in the 100 backstroke with a time of 53.50 seconds, ranking second in the Patriot League. Key individual performances include sophomore Marin Priddy’s pool record in the 100 breaststroke (1:04.51), as well as her multiple wins in quad meets. Freshman diver Alex Way posted top program scores on both 1-meter (274.50) and 3-meter (279.40) boards, now sitting among the best in program history.
