Second Expedition Prep: Lower Coin Requirements, New Buffs & Catch-Up Skill Points Explained

As the second Expedition launch approaches, Raiders are gearing up for a fresh start beyond the Rust Belt. Registration opens on February 25th with departure set for March 1st, providing an opportunity to begin anew with enhanced rewards and bonuses.

One significant update addresses previous feedback on high stash requirements for maximum rewards. The new threshold for maximum rewards is now lowered to 3 million Coins, equating to 600k Coins per Skill Point, while still granting 5 Skill Points for reaching this target.

Catch-Up Mechanic for Missed Skill Points
For those unable to gather sufficient Coins during the first Expedition, a catch-up system has been introduced. This mechanic lets Raiders reclaim missed Skill Points at a discounted rate, reducing the total Coins needed to achieve maximum points across Expeditions. Specifically, each missing Skill Point from the first Expedition requires collecting only 300k Coins this time around.

Coins collected upon departure count first toward Skill Points in the current Expedition, then toward any missing points from the previous run. However, Raiders should note that reward structures and conditions could evolve in future Expeditions, and bonus Skill Points may not remain available indefinitely.

Rewards and Bonuses for Returning and New Raiders
New players embarking on their initial Expedition will receive the rewards assigned to the first Expedition. Those continuing their journeys in consecutive Expeditions gain additional stash space and Skill Points. Permanent bonuses earned remain with Raiders even if they decide to pause or stop future departures.

Noteworthy cosmetic upgrades include expanded toggles and extra color options for the Patchwork outfit, plus a new Scrappy outfit reserved for second Expedition participants. Buffs earned from consecutive Expeditions accumulate but reset if a Raider opts out of departing again.

Core elements unaffected by the Expedition cycle encompass the Trophy Display Project, cosmetics, Raider Deck progress, unlocked map regions, leaderboard standings, Trials, Codex entries, and Raider Tokens. This continuity ensures progress outside the Expedition challenges remains intact.

Permanent Bonuses Available:

  1. Cosmetics:
    • Evolved Patchwork outfit
    • Scrappy cosmetics
    • Upgraded Expedition Indicator icon per completed Expedition
  2. Gameplay Bonuses:
    • Expanded stash capacity from 12 to 24 spaces
    • Skill Points ranging from 0 to 5, plus catch-up points—maxing at 85 possible Skill Points for the second Expedition

Consecutive Expedition Buffs:

  1. XP Boost increases from 5% to 10%
  2. Scrappy materials collection increases from 6% to 12%
  3. Repair value upgrade rises from 60% to 70%

These layered advantages encourage persistent engagement, rewarding Raiders who commit to multiple Expeditions while still supporting those catching up on missed progress.

Raiders preparing for the second Expedition should strategize to maximize stash collection early to capitalize on the modified Skill Point system. Staying informed of any future adjustments can provide a competitive edge in upcoming departures.

The upcoming second Expedition promises enhanced gameplay dynamics coupled with a more accessible progression system. Raiders can anticipate a balanced mix of new challenges and rewards designed to maintain long-term engagement throughout the unfolding adventure.
