The new Flashpoint Update for ARC Raiders is set to go live on March 31, bringing fresh threats, new weapons, map changes, and several quality-of-life improvements. The update centers on a major new ARC Operation called Close Scrutiny, where players face a high-risk environment with fewer loot spawns but a potentially valuable target.
The developer says the update will push Raiders to change tactics as Celeste’s radar fills with unknown signatures. The situation also includes escaping Shredders, newly sighted laser-equipped ARC units, and large unarmed machines making controlled landings across the map, suggesting a broader escalation in the game world.
New ARC Operation: Close Scrutiny
Close Scrutiny is the headline feature of the update and introduces a new major map condition called an ARC Operation. According to the game’s update details, the event is built around an unusual machine identified by Celeste as the Assessor.
The Assessor is described as a large object that appears to land in a controlled way and then remain in place. While the object itself does not show obvious aggression, the escorted ARC patrols make the encounter much more dangerous than a standard raid.
Players are warned that loot will be scarcer across the map during this condition. That shifts the focus toward the Assessor, where the biggest rewards may be hidden, but only squads with strong gear should expect to survive the fight.
New ARC threat: Vaporizer
A new flying ARC enemy has also appeared near the operation zone. Raiders have already started calling it the Vaporizer, a name driven by its laser attacks and unusual attack behavior.
The addition suggests the update is not only expanding the enemy roster, but also forcing players to study new combat patterns under pressure. In practice, that means aerial threats may now matter more during key encounters and could require tighter coordination and faster reactions.
New weapons and tactical equipment
Tian Wen’s workshop is also linked to the update, with several new blueprints entering the game. The new gear appears designed to help players deal with ARC units at different ranges and in more flexible ways.
-
Canto
- A submachine gun built for close-range encounters.
- It uses medium ammunition and gives players a stronger option when fighting ARC at short distance.
-
Dolabra
- An energy shotgun that can fire either a wide burst or a more focused stream of electricity.
- The weapon is intended to punch through ARC armor in close combat.
- Surge Coil
- A deployable device that periodically electrifies the area around it.
- It can shock any enemy that enters its radius, making it useful for defense and area control.
The update notes say the Dolabra blueprint has the best chance of dropping during the Close Scrutiny ARC Operation. That creates a clear incentive for players to enter the new event if they want to expand their loadout early.
High Gain Antenna project expands the story
The Flashpoint Update also introduces a new project tied to Celeste and Shani. Both characters want help building a High Gain Antenna so they can gain a clearer view of the strange activity appearing in the sky.
The update description says rumors, radar pings, and recordings have raised concern in Speranza. Raiders have reported unusual shapes during a hurricane, and the new project suggests those sightings may be connected to a larger incoming threat.
Players who contribute resources to the project will receive rewards, but the broader goal is framed as a defensive one. The antenna is meant to track a danger that could affect everyone in the Rust Belt.
Scrappy gets a feeding boost
Scrappy, the game’s raiding rooster companion, also receives a useful upgrade. Players can now feed him specific items to increase the types of loot he collects over time.
That change makes the companion system more rewarding and adds another layer of progression outside direct combat. The update notes that Scrappy can also return more valuable items as long as he continues to be fed.
Shredders spread across more maps
The update brings back one of the more recognizable dangers in ARC Raiders, with Shredders now appearing across several locations. They have been spotted on Blue Gate, Buried City, Spaceport, and Dam Battlegrounds during map conditions.
That wider spread means players may need to stay alert even outside the newest event content. The update text also suggests the threat came from a failure to secure the Stella Montis doors, turning a containment problem into a broader battlefield issue.
Crafting gets faster and cleaner
The crafting system is also receiving a practical improvement. Players will now be able to fill in missing materials directly while crafting, reducing the need to move between multiple menus.
When materials are missing, the game will show available sources in one window. That means players can recycle, refine, or purchase what they need without leaving the crafting flow.
New cosmetic content and bundle
A new premium bundle called The Wasp Hunter Set is now available on all platforms. The pack includes four color variations, the Diver Backpack in white, a new Scrappy Helmet, the Thruster Hammer Raider Tool, and 2,400 Raider Tokens.
Additional outfits are also scheduled to arrive periodically through April. The incoming cosmetic sets include the Brigade Set, the Vanguard Set, and the Nascosto Set, each built around a distinct visual style.
What the update means for players
The Flashpoint Update appears designed to raise tension while also improving progression and convenience. By adding a new major map condition, a new flying ARC enemy, more weapons, and a stronger companion system, the update pushes both combat depth and loot strategy in new directions.
For players entering the new content, the key priorities are clear: prepare for fewer resources on the ground, target the Assessor for higher-value rewards, and learn how the Vaporizer and spreading Shredders change the flow of each raid.
