The Dallas Cowboys added another defensive piece in the fourth round of the 2026 NFL Draft when they selected cornerback Devin Moore out of Florida with the No. 114 pick. The move came quickly after Dallas had already addressed other needs earlier in the round, showing how aggressively the team worked through a busy stretch of the draft board.

The selection also fit the broader pattern of the Cowboys’ draft approach, which had already brought in help at several spots on both sides of the ball. After trading down in the first round with the Philadelphia Eagles and picking up extra fourth-round capital, Dallas entered the middle rounds with more flexibility to target players who could contribute to a turnaround in 2026.

A fast-moving fourth round for Dallas

Dallas began the round with multiple options after the trade-down maneuver that sent the Cowboys to No. 23 and added two fourth-round selections from Philadelphia. That gave the team a chance to move through the board with urgency as each pick came up in quick succession.

By the time Moore was chosen, the Cowboys had already added a safety, a defensive end, a veteran linebacker acquired in a trade with the 49ers for Dee Winters, a rookie linebacker who can play inside and outside, and offensive tackle Drew Shelton from Penn State at No. 112. The immediate return to defense at No. 114 showed that cornerback remained a priority area.

Why Moore fits the stretch of picks

Moore gives Dallas another option in the secondary as the front office continued to build depth across the roster. The Cowboys did not pause long after taking Shelton, and the quick shift back to defense suggested they viewed Moore as a player who could help reinforce a unit already receiving attention in the draft.

Florida cornerback Devin Moore became the next name on the Cowboys’ list after a run of picks that touched several position groups. With several additions already in place, the No. 114 selection added another layer to a draft class designed to give Dallas more flexibility and competition heading into the season ahead.
