A new trailer for Rick and Morty Season 9 has given fans a fresh look at the return of Adult Swim’s long-running animated sci-fi comedy. The footage teases the same chaotic mix of family dysfunction, bizarre science-fiction setups, and outlandish gags that have defined the series since its debut on Adult Swim in 2013.
The trailer arrives as the show prepares for another ten-episode season, with the network already renewing Rick and Morty for at least three more seasons. Adult Swim has also moved forward with a spin-off titled President Curtis, though no premiere date has been announced for that project.
What the new trailer shows
The preview opens with Rick dragging Morty out of bed and straight into another adventure. From there, the trailer cuts through a rapid series of scenes that include killer furniture, breakfast drugs, and other surreal threats that fit the show’s usual unpredictable tone.
The official synopsis keeps the promotional style just as chaotic, calling Season 9 “all certified bangers” and describing the material as “No AI slop! Just Grade A organic slop, made by real humans with real human traits like back hair and cysts.” The blunt humor reflects the series’ long-standing habit of mocking itself while promising the kind of offbeat storytelling that has kept it popular.
The cast behind the new season
Rick and Morty Season 9 continues with the current voice cast led by Ian Cardoni as Rick Sanchez and Harry Belden as Morty Smith. The supporting cast also includes Chris Parnell as Jerry Smith, Spencer Grammer as Summer Smith, and Sarah Chalke as Beth Smith.
Those roles now sit at the center of the show’s next chapter after Adult Swim cut ties with co-creator and former lead voice actor Justin Roiland in 2023. Roiland had voiced the title characters across the first six seasons before the network’s decision following allegations of domestic violence, abuse, and sexual assault.
A major Adult Swim series keeps expanding
Since its debut, Rick and Morty has remained one of Adult Swim’s most recognizable original shows, built on the partnership of co-creator Dan Harmon and a style of absurd, fast-moving storytelling. The new trailer suggests that Season 9 will stay close to that formula, combining family conflict with sudden bursts of sci-fi madness and crude comedy.
The release also reinforces the show’s continued importance within Adult Swim’s lineup. With another season on the way, a three-season renewal already in place, and a spin-off in development, Rick and Morty remains a major part of the network’s future programming plans.
Rick and Morty Season 9 will premiere on Adult Swim on Sunday, May 24, 2026, with the trailer offering the first clear look at the kind of wild, joke-heavy adventures that fans can expect when the series returns.
