Electric Car Price List: Check the Latest Models Before Upcoming Price Increases

The Indonesian government has confirmed that incentives for electric vehicles in CBU (completely built up) form will end soon. This policy will impact car prices, especially for models still relying on imports and not produced locally.

Automotive industry observers predict EV prices may rise by around 30 percent after the current incentives are withdrawn. The incentives consist of import duty and luxury sales tax waivers. The government, through the Ministry of Industry, requires manufacturers to shift to local production in line with local content rules set out in the latest investment regulations.

Potential Price Increase in the Near Future

GAIKINDO, the Association of Indonesian Automotive Industries, has emphasized that ending these incentives will make CBU electric vehicles less affordable for Indonesian consumers. The Minister of Industry, Agus Gumiwang, confirmed that only vehicles with locally assembled components will qualify for future benefits. Manufacturers such as BYD, Vinfast, Geely, Xpeng, and other brands are directly affected by this regulation.

For consumers planning to purchase an EV, now is considered the best time to buy before the price increase takes effect. Leading brands have announced their current price lists, valid while government incentives are still active.

How to Choose the Right Model Before the Price Increase

Compare the specifications and features based on your needs. Consider city driving range, charging compatibility, after-sales support, and accessible public charging networks.

Direct quoting from the Minister of Industry, “The transition to local production is mandatory by the roadmap and regulation, and imported CBU will no longer enjoy incentives in the future.” GAIKINDO also stresses that the potential price increase is significant, due to the removal of tax breaks that had made CBU EVs more competitive.

For buyers, this shift represents a critical time window. Review the latest price lists, evaluate available options, and make a timely purchase to secure a better offer before the price hikes take effect.
