TCU is bringing back one of its most accomplished players in a new role that connects the program to both its past and its future. Orlando Magic guard Desmond Bane will join the Horned Frogs as chief basketball officer, adding a former star to Jamie Dixon’s staff. Bane will serve as a special advisor to Dixon and volunteer his time in the position. The move also gives TCU a direct link to the NBA, where Bane has built his career since leaving Fort Worth. A familiar face with rare program credentials Bane played for TCU from 2016-20 and is widely regarded as one of the best players in school history. He is the program’s all-time leader in 3-pointers made with 249, and he also leads TCU in wins with 84 and games played with 141. His consistency stood out as much as his production, since he never missed a game during his college career. Bane also became the first TCU player to earn first team All-Big 12 honors in 2020.
