Thinner Galaxy Z Fold8 Brings A 5,000mAh Battery And 45W Charging Upgrade

Samsung appears to be preparing a clearer split in its next foldable lineup, with Galaxy Z Fold8 shaping up as the more complete premium model while Galaxy Z Fold8 Wide is positioned as the simpler and more compact option. The latest leak puts power upgrades at the center of that strategy, especially for the main Fold8.

The most eye-catching change concerns the battery. Galaxy Z Fold8 is said to get a 5,000 mAh cell, which would mark an increase of about 14 percent, even though the device is expected to become thinner and lighter than Galaxy Z Fold7.

A thinner body, but more endurance

The main Fold8 is reportedly measuring 4.1 millimeters thick and weighing 210 grams. That combination suggests Samsung is trying to improve portability without sacrificing battery capacity, which is often a difficult balance in foldable phones.

Charging support is also expected to move up a level. The device is tipped to support 45-watt wired charging, up from 25 watts on the previous generation. That would make the upcoming model one of the more notable battery-related upgrades in Samsung’s foldable range.

Performance and camera changes on Fold8

On the performance side, Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 is said to power the device. That would place the Fold8 in the top-tier segment of Samsung’s next-generation foldables.

Camera details suggest a mix of continuity and refinement. The 200 MP main sensor is said to remain in place, while the 50 MP ultra-wide camera is expected to receive an upgrade. The front-facing setup also appears unchanged, with two 10 MP selfie cameras still mentioned in the leak.

The telephoto camera has not been revealed in the current information set. That leaves part of the imaging configuration still uncertain, even as the rest of the specification picture becomes clearer.

Fold8 Wide takes a different path

Samsung is also reportedly working on Galaxy Z Fold8 Wide, which seems designed for a more compact and less complex experience. This model is expected to be cheaper, with a focus on lower weight and a simpler hardware package.

Its battery is said to be 4,800 mAh, slightly below the standard Fold8. Even so, charging support is still expected to reach 45 watts, keeping fast refill speeds in line with the main model.

The camera system on Fold8 Wide is described as more modest as well. It is said to feature a 50 MP main camera and a 50 MP ultra-wide camera, while omitting a telephoto lens entirely.

Compact display and lighter build

Display details also reinforce the more compact positioning of Fold8 Wide. The phone is said to use a 7.6-inch panel with a 4:3 aspect ratio, which points to a relatively familiar and efficient foldable format.

Its weight is estimated at around 200 grams, placing it among the lighter foldables in this class. That makes the model look aimed at users who value easier handling over the fuller feature set of the standard Fold8.

The broader picture suggests Samsung is making its next foldable lineup more differentiated than before. The standard Galaxy Z Fold8 appears to target users who want the strongest overall specification package, while Fold8 Wide seems set up as a lighter and simpler alternative within the same premium family.

For now, pricing for both devices remains unknown. TechManiacs notes that the available details still cover only part of the full specification set, so the final market positioning of the two foldables has not yet been fully revealed.
