Google Nest Outage Widens Across Regions, Users Await A Fix From The Company

A widespread Nest app disruption has left users checking their phones, community threads, and third-party outage trackers for answers. Google has now acknowledged that the problem is real and says a fix is being prepared as quickly as possible.

The company’s response matters because the official Nest status page still says everything is operating normally. That mismatch has made the situation more confusing for users whose own experience clearly shows otherwise.

Reports surged across multiple regions

What began as a handful of complaints quickly turned into a much larger pattern. Downdetector showed nearly 1,000 outage reports, starting with a single report at 3:41 am ET and then climbing sharply to more than 800 shortly before 11 am ET.

That kind of spike usually points to a service issue affecting many users at around the same time. It also makes the problem look far broader than a device-specific glitch or an isolated account issue.

Google has confirmed it is working on a fix

A Google spokesperson has confirmed the company is aware of the issue affecting the Nest app. Google also said it is working on a repair as quickly as possible.

For users trying to understand whether the problem sits with their own setup, that acknowledgment is an important update. It confirms the disruption is happening on the service side rather than only on individual connections.

Official status and real-world reports do not match

The most frustrating part for many users is the gap between the official status page and what people are reporting in real time. While complaints kept rising, the Nest status page still displayed the message that everything is running smoothly.

That contradiction pushed many users toward community forums and outage monitoring services for confirmation. Reddit became one of the main places where people compared notes and tried to determine whether the problem was widespread.

One user’s question about whether Nest was down in Texas drew responses from many other places. The replies suggested the issue was not limited to one state or one local network.

Complaints came from a wide geographic spread

Reports were posted from Alabama, California, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Ohio, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, New Jersey, North Carolina, and Pennsylvania. Similar complaints also came from Canada and the United Kingdom.

The reach of those reports makes the disruption look especially significant for users of Google’s smart home platform. It also weakens the idea that the trouble is tied to a single city, router, or household.

Some users tried Google Home as a workaround

With the Nest app struggling, some users turned to Google Home as a temporary alternative. A number of people said that switch helped, but the results were not consistent for everyone.

Others said Google Home did not fully solve the issue. Some functions normally available in the Nest app were still reported as difficult to access through the replacement app.

For now, the most relevant update is that Google has already recognized the outage and is preparing a fix. The company said the next update will be shared through a Reddit thread, making that channel the clearest place to watch for fresh information while the official status page remains out of sync with user reports.
