Ryzen 7 7700X3D Could Bring 3D V-Cache Closer To Budget Gamers, With 7800X3D-Like Performance

A new X3D option may be on the way for PC gamers who want strong gaming performance without moving all the way up to the most expensive tier. AMD is said to be preparing the Ryzen 7 7700X3D, a processor positioned as a more affordable entry into the 3D V-Cache lineup while still sitting close to the Ryzen 7 7800X3D in games.

The leak has drawn attention because the chip appears to keep the core gaming-focused layout that made the X3D family popular. It is reported to retain 8 cores and 16 threads, which keeps it in familiar territory for users looking for a balanced gaming CPU rather than a heavily multi-threaded model.

A familiar X3D layout with lower power

The name Ryzen 7 7700X3D surfaced through a leak from chi11eddog, who described it as a Zen 4 processor with a total of 96MB of L3 cache. The same brief listing also mentioned “R7 7700X3D, 120W, 8C16T, 96MB,” which points to a 120W part that should be easier to cool than more aggressive high-end models.

That combination makes the chip look closely aligned with the Ryzen 7 7800X3D on paper. Both CPUs are described as having 8 cores, 16 threads, and 96MB of total L3 cache, which helps explain why the new model is being framed as a lower-cost alternative rather than a different class of product.

Clock speeds are trimmed to make room for value

The main difference appears to be frequency. Ryzen 7 7700X3D is said to run at a 4.0 GHz base clock and boost up to 4.5 GHz, which is 200 MHz and 500 MHz lower than the 7800X3D.

That reduction is reportedly tied to lower cost and potentially lower power demands. Even so, the leaked information suggests gaming performance may end up only about 5% to 10% below the Ryzen 7 7800X3D, which is a relatively small gap for buyers focused on value.

Why the pricing angle matters

The Ryzen 7 7800X3D launched at $449, and its current market price is still estimated to sit around $350 to $380 depending on region and seller. Against that backdrop, a Ryzen 7 7700X3D with slightly reduced clocks could fill a gap for gamers who want X3D performance without paying the higher asking price of the established model.

That would make the part especially relevant for buyers who judge a gaming CPU by the performance-per-dollar equation. In that context, a small drop in frame-rate potential may be easier to accept if the launch price lands noticeably lower.

A practical move for AMD’s lineup

There is also speculation that AMD could use remaining or recycled silicon to bring the model to market at a lower cost. That would fit a pattern the company has used before, where more affordable variants arrive after flagship stock begins to thin out.

For now, AMD has not officially announced the Ryzen 7 7700X3D. Still, the leak suggests that the company may be preparing another entry point into 3D V-Cache for gamers who want the X3D experience in a more budget-conscious package.
