Samsung’s Galaxy Watch 9 Leak Points To A Return Of The Classic Model

Samsung’s next Galaxy Watch lineup is starting to take shape in code, and the most notable clue points to the return of the Classic model. References found in Google’s Wear OS app suggest that Galaxy Watch 9 may arrive with a broader lineup than some had expected.

The discovery has drawn attention because Samsung has recently been seen adjusting how it names and splits its smartwatch models. Instead of a single straightforward path, the leaked code hints at a three-device family that could give the company more room to separate standard, Classic, and premium options.

Three code names, one strong signal

According to Android Authority, the code analysis uncovered three names: Fresh 9, Wise 9, and Project V2. Each of them appears to be tied to an unannounced Samsung wearable, and the naming pattern matches how the company has handled earlier generations.

Fresh 9 is widely read as the standard Galaxy Watch 9. Wise 9 is believed to point to the Galaxy Watch 9 Classic, which would mark the Classic line’s return to Samsung’s premium smartwatch range.

That possibility stands out because the Classic variant had already been part of the Galaxy Watch 8 generation. If the new reading is correct, Samsung seems ready to keep that familiar design choice in the next model family as well.

A possible three-model strategy

Project V2 adds another layer to the picture. The code name is thought to be connected to the successor to the Galaxy Watch Ultra, which would likely be sold as Galaxy Watch Ultra 2.

Taken together, the three names suggest a lineup that may include Galaxy Watch 9, Galaxy Watch 9 Classic, and Galaxy Watch Ultra 2. That would give Samsung a clearer tiered strategy for users who want a basic model, a more traditional Classic design, or the most premium option.

Such a split would also help Samsung maintain clear differences within its wearable range. For the company, that means offering more choice without blurring the identity of each model category.

Hints of a new voice feature

The same code analysis also surfaced a possible Raise to Talk feature for Samsung smartwatches. The function is known from Pixel Watch and lets users trigger a voice assistant simply by lifting the wrist.

There is no confirmation yet that the feature will reach the final product. For now, it remains only an early sign found inside the code, so its actual use on Galaxy Watch hardware is still uncertain.

Still early, but the direction is clearer

Separate reports have indicated that Galaxy Watch 9 is already in software testing. That stage is often viewed as a sign that a device is moving closer to launch preparation.

Samsung is also expected to unveil its next wearable products alongside its upcoming foldables. Galaxy Unpacked is said to take place in the middle of 2026, although the company has not announced an official schedule.

For now, Samsung has not confirmed the Galaxy Watch 9 name, the final specifications, or the release timing. Even so, the code findings and industry reports now point in the same direction: a return of the Classic model looks increasingly plausible.
