Leica Cameras, 6,500mAh Battery, And A Sub-Rs 60,000 Price Make Xiaomi 17T Hard To Ignore

Xiaomi has positioned the 17T as a serious premium mid-range contender in India by packing in Leica-branded cameras, a 6,500mAh battery, and MediaTek’s Dimensity 8500-Ultra in one device. The phone is also being pushed with an effective starting price below Rs 60,000, helped by an instant Rs 5,000 discount for select bank cards.

The lineup begins with the 12GB RAM + 256GB variant at Rs 59,999, while the 12GB RAM + 512GB model is priced at Rs 64,999. Xiaomi has scheduled first sales for 30 June, with availability through its official website, the Xiaomi Phone Shop app, and partner retail outlets.

Leica camera system takes the spotlight

Photography is one of the main reasons the Xiaomi 17T stands out in its segment. The rear setup uses a triple-camera system with Leica tuning, built around a 50MP Light Fusion 800 main sensor with OIS.

Xiaomi has also added a 50MP periscope telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom. The third rear camera is a 12MP ultra-wide lens, while Leica-supported features such as Live Portrait, Live Moment, and telemacro aim to broaden the phone’s creative options.

For selfies and front-facing video, the device includes a 32MP camera. That gives the 17T a fairly complete imaging package for users who care about both stills and content creation.

Performance leans on MediaTek and fast memory

Under the hood, the Xiaomi 17T is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8500-Ultra. Xiaomi says the chip is tuned for gaming, multitasking, and AI-based processing.

The phone is paired with LPDDR5x RAM of up to 12GB and storage of up to 512GB using UFS 4.1. That combination is meant to deliver faster app access and a more flagship-like experience without pushing the phone into a much higher price bracket.

Large battery and fast charging round out the hardware

Battery life is another major part of the 17T’s appeal. The phone carries a 6,500mAh battery, which should suit users who want a device that can handle heavy daily use.

Charging support comes in at 67W HyperCharge. That keeps the battery package practical, since the large capacity is paired with relatively quick top-up speeds.

Display and software are built for a premium feel

On the front, Xiaomi uses a 6.59-inch AMOLED display with 1.5K resolution. The panel supports a 120Hz refresh rate, which should make scrolling and gaming feel smoother.

Xiaomi also claims a peak brightness of 3,500 nits. The display further supports 12-bit color, HDR-level visuals, and TÜV Rheinland eye-care certification, all of which reinforce the phone’s premium positioning.

Software duties are handled by HyperOS 3 based on Android 16. Xiaomi has included AI Writing, AI Interpreter, AI Search, and Gemini integration as part of the system experience.

Extra features complete the package

Beyond the core hardware, the Xiaomi 17T includes stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos, Wi-Fi 6E, an in-display fingerprint sensor, and an IR blaster. Those additions make the phone feel more complete in day-to-day use.

Taken together, the camera hardware, large battery, fast display, and AI features give the Xiaomi 17T a strong case in India’s premium mid-range category. It is designed to appeal to buyers who want a near-flagship experience without moving into a much higher price tier.
