Motorola’s latest Edge model is taking a different path from the usual race toward ever-larger phones. The Edge 2026 opens for pre-order in the United States with a more compact body, a lighter build, and a starting price of $599.
That pricing puts it $50 above the Edge 2025, but Motorola is pairing the increase with a design and hardware package that still aims at the upper end of the midrange segment. The result is a phone that is smaller in hand without looking stripped down.
A smaller body, but not a stripped-back one
The most immediate change is the display size. The Edge 2026 uses a 6.3-inch panel, down from the 6.7-inch screen on the Edge 2025, and the phone now weighs 160 grams instead of 181 grams.
Motorola also keeps the body slim at 0.28 inches thick. It is not the thinnest phone in this category, but the lighter frame and reduced footprint make the device easier to carry and more comfortable to hold.
Design gets a distinct visual identity
Motorola is also leaning on design to make the Edge 2026 stand out. The phone arrives in a Pantone Martini Olive finish with a textured back that gives it a tweed-like appearance.
That is a noticeable shift from the Edge 2025, which came in Pantone Deep Forest with a soft vegan leather rear panel. In a market crowded with slim phones, Motorola appears to be using style as another way to define the product.
Display, performance, and battery stay firmly modern
On the front, the Edge 2026 features an AMOLED display with a 2640 x 1216 resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, and a claimed peak brightness of 5,200 nits. Motorola calls the panel “Extreme AMOLED,” and protection still comes from Gorilla Glass 7i.
Inside, the phone runs on the MediaTek Dimensity 7450 chipset, paired with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. Power comes from a 5,000mAh battery, supported by 60W wired charging and 15W wireless charging.
Camera changes focus on the main sensor
The biggest camera update is on the back. Motorola has moved to a 50MP Sony Lytia 710 main camera, making that sensor the centerpiece of the rear setup.
The rest of the system remains familiar. The Edge 2026 still includes a 50MP ultrawide camera, a 10MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom, and a 50MP front-facing camera. Motorola is keeping the overall camera layout intact while improving the primary shooter.
How it fits in a crowded thin-phone market
The Edge 2026 does not chase the absolute edge in thinness. Samsung’s Galaxy S25 SE is listed at 0.23 inches thick, while the iPhone Air measures 0.22 inches.
Motorola is responding with a different mix of traits instead of trying to win on one number alone. The combination of a lighter body, a smaller display, a 5,000mAh battery, and a full camera setup gives the phone a balanced pitch for buyers who want something more compact without giving up core features.
The pre-order period is open now, and sales begin on 11 June. With this launch, Motorola is targeting US buyers who want a smaller premium-leaning phone at a price that reflects the step up from last year’s model.
