Final Fantasy VII Rebirth now has a physical edition for Nintendo Switch 2 in Southeast Asia, giving players another way to experience the second chapter of the Final Fantasy VII remake project. The release expands access to one of Square Enix’s most prominent modern RPGs on Nintendo’s newest console.

The game is also available on Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox on PC with Xbox Play Anywhere and Xbox Cloud Gaming support. In addition, it remains available on PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam, placing the title across most major modern gaming platforms.

A wider rollout for the remake trilogy

With Final Fantasy VII Rebirth and Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade both available across these platforms, the first two games in the remake trilogy are now within reach for players on nearly every major ecosystem. That makes it easier for newcomers to follow the story from the beginning and prepare for the third entry, which is still in development.

The broader distribution also strengthens the remake series as one of Square Enix’s key projects. It gives long-time fans more freedom to return to the adventure and lets new players begin Cloud’s journey without being tied to a single device.

Critical recognition and optional progression features

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth has already drawn strong praise from the press, earning more than 125 perfect scores and 40 Game of the Year awards. That reception underscores its status not just as a sequel in the storyline, but as a widely recognized release in its own right.

For players who want to focus on the story, the game includes an optional Streamlined Progression feature. It was previously available on PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam, and it is now also offered on Nintendo Switch 2 with benefits such as unlimited HP, MP, and ATB gauge in battle, 9,999 damage, and easier access to weapon abilities.

A demo that opens the door for new players

New players can also try a free demo on Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox. The demo covers Chapter 1 and Chapter 2, offering an early look at the opening of the story and the world the game builds around its cast.

Chapter 1 puts players in control of a young Cloud and war hero Sephiroth. Chapter 2 then moves Cloud and his companions into the vast Grasslands, where battles, hidden treasure, side stories, and the Queen’s Blood card minigame are available, with demo progress carrying over to the full game.

Story picks up beyond Midgar

In Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, the story continues after Cloud, Tifa, Barret, Aerith, and Red XIII escape Midgar. From there, the group travels into a larger world while chasing Sephiroth, the former Soldier whose presence continues to shadow Cloud’s past and whose ambition is tied to controlling the planet.

Along the way, the party also meets new allies such as Yuffie and Cait Sith. The mix of iconic characters, unexpected story turns, and striking visuals keeps Final Fantasy VII Rebirth relevant for both long-time fans and players discovering the series for the first time.
