Xiaomi Indonesia has started selling the Redmi Pad 2 9.7 in the domestic market, positioning it as an affordable tablet with a set of features that looks unusually complete for its price. The device is priced at Rp 2.399.000 for the 4 GB/64 GB variant.
At this level, the tablet is aimed at students, college users, and younger consumers who want a single device for study, work, entertainment, and light gaming. Xiaomi is clearly banking on a combination of mobility, display quality, and battery endurance to make the model stand out.
Display quality takes the lead
The most prominent selling point is the 9.7-inch 2K panel with a 120Hz refresh rate. That combination is meant to deliver sharper visuals and smoother motion across everyday use, from reading documents to watching videos.
Xiaomi also rates the screen at up to 600 nits, which should help visibility in a variety of lighting conditions. To support long viewing sessions, the company added TÜV Rheinland Low Blue Light, Flicker Free, and Circadian Friendly certifications.
Those certifications are especially relevant for people who spend hours on online classes or work-related reading. In practice, they also reinforce the tablet’s appeal as a daily-use screen rather than a device built only for casual entertainment.
Battery life and portability are hard to ignore
Another major attraction is the 7,600 mAh battery, which Xiaomi says is capable of lasting more than a day on a single charge. That capacity makes the tablet more practical for users who move between classes, meetings, and streaming sessions.
The box also includes a 15W charger, removing the need for an immediate extra purchase. For a tablet in this price bracket, that detail adds a useful layer of convenience.
Portability is another part of the story. The Redmi Pad 2 9.7 measures 7.4 mm thick and weighs about 406 grams, while its metal body gives it a more premium feel than many low-cost competitors.
Performance is tuned for everyday multitasking
Inside, the tablet uses the Snapdragon 6s 4G Gen 2 Mobile Platform built on a 6nm process. Xiaomi says the octa-core chipset can reach speeds of up to 2.9 GHz, while CPU performance is claimed to be up to 51% better than the previous generation.
With 4 GB of RAM, the device is also said to score up to 400,000 points on AnTuTu. The storage starts at 64 GB and can be expanded with a microSD card of up to 2 TB, giving users room for files, apps, and media.
The software side is equally important for buyers who want a tablet that can handle more than video playback. Redmi Pad 2 9.7 runs HyperOS 3 based on Android 16, with tighter integration across Xiaomi devices.
That ecosystem support lets users move documents, copy text, and receive calls more easily between compatible devices. It turns the tablet into a more serious productivity companion, not just a separate entertainment screen.
Extra functions add practical value
Xiaomi has also added Circle to Search from Google, making visual search more immediate and convenient. Another notable feature is Wireless Display Extension, which allows the tablet to act as a second screen for a laptop or PC.
That second-screen function is useful for study setups, online meetings, and creative work such as editing or design tasks. It broadens the tablet’s use case without pushing it far beyond the reach of its target audience.
The Redmi Pad 2 9.7 is available in Graphite Gray and Silver through online channels and official Xiaomi stores across Indonesia. With its mix of a sharp display, large battery, compact body, and cross-device features, the tablet is trying to be the kind of budget-friendly option that feels more capable than its price suggests.
