Tecno has taken a different approach with the Pova 8 by pairing a very large 8,000mAh battery with a customizable rear display. The combination gives the phone a clear identity in a crowded segment, especially for users who care about endurance and a bit of visual novelty.
That positioning also makes the Pova 8 a notable step up from the Pova 7. Tecno has added a larger battery, a faster display, a MediaTek Dimensity chipset, and a rear screen feature that was not part of the previous generation.
A display built for speed
On the front, the Pova 8 uses a 6.76-inch Full HD+ IPS display with a 144Hz refresh rate. It also supports up to 950 nits of peak brightness in High Brightness Mode and an instantaneous touch sampling rate of 1,500Hz.
Those numbers point to a phone aimed at smooth visuals and quick response. For gaming and video playback, the high refresh rate and fast touch response should matter more than decorative extras alone.
Performance and cooling focus
Powering the device is the MediaTek Dimensity 7100, built on a 6nm process. Tecno pairs it with up to 8GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 256GB of UFS 2.2 storage.
The phone also includes dedicated G1 and SE1 signal chips. Tecno says these are meant to improve network performance and connectivity, while a 14,689 mm² cooling system helps manage heat during long gaming sessions.
Battery life remains the main attraction
The biggest talking point is still the 8,000mAh battery, backed by 45W fast charging. Tecno claims the phone can deliver up to 39.5 hours of talk time, nearly 18 hours of video playback, and more than 1,198 hours of standby on a single charge.
For users who spend long hours away from a charger, that battery profile is the Pova 8’s strongest selling point. It also fits the phone’s broader focus on gaming, entertainment, and heavy daily multitasking.
Rear screen adds a second layer of utility
At the back, the Alive Matrix Display gives the handset a feature rarely seen in this price segment. The rear screen can be customized to show notifications and alerts, adding a practical function to the design.
This is one of the clearest differences from the earlier model. Instead of relying only on the main display, Tecno is giving users a secondary way to catch important information at a glance.
Cameras and software
For imaging, the Pova 8 carries a 50-megapixel rear camera using a Sony LYT-600 sensor, supported by a light sensor. On the front, there is a 13-megapixel camera for selfies and video calls.
Tecno also includes several shooting and recording modes, among them AI CAM, Portrait Mode, Super Night Mode, Time-Lapse, Dual Video, Vlog Mode, and Slow Motion. The phone runs HiOS 16 based on Android 16 out of the box.
Durability and pricing in India
The device is certified to MIL-STD-810H standards and comes with an IP64 rating for protection against dust and water splashes. In India, the 6GB RAM + 128GB model costs Rs 29,999, while the 8GB RAM + 128GB version is priced at Rs 31,999.
Color options include 16 Bit White, Plasma Orange, and Terminal Green, with sales handled through Flipkart. With its battery capacity, fast screen, and rear display, the Pova 8 is aimed at buyers who want endurance and a more distinctive design in one package.
