Asus has pushed the ROG Zephyrus G16 into a more extreme tier with a new configuration that pairs GeForce RTX 5080 graphics with 64 GB of RAM. The result is a 16-inch gaming laptop that now sits at the top of the refreshed lineup in the US market.
The key change is not only the GPU upgrade, but also the extra power budget Asus gives it. That shift turns the new model into a more serious option for users who want stronger gaming performance and more memory headroom in a premium portable machine.
More power for the RTX 5080
This version of the ROG Zephyrus G16 (2026) uses the same Core Ultra 9 386H processor found in the GeForce RTX 5070 Ti model. The difference comes from the graphics side, where Asus allows the RTX 5080 to draw more power than the lesser configuration.
In Turbo Mode, the RTX 5080 receives 10 W more than the RTX 5070 Ti version. In Manual Mode, that margin grows to 20 W, giving the GPU more room to sustain higher performance levels.
Overall, the chip can reach up to 160 W, including 25 W provided through Nvidia Dynamic Boost. For a thin-and-light gaming laptop, that places the Zephyrus G16 among the more aggressive implementations of this GPU.
Benchmark gains come with extra VRAM
According to benchmark results, moving from the GeForce RTX 5070 Ti to the GeForce RTX 5080 can deliver around a 16 percent boost in gaming performance. The gap may become even more noticeable in games that rely heavily on graphics memory.
That is because the RTX 5080 comes with 16 GB of VRAM, while the RTX 5070 Ti is limited to 12 GB. For demanding titles, that extra headroom could help the laptop stay more comfortable at higher settings.
64 GB RAM pushes the price much higher
The new specification set does not come cheaply. Asus lists the configuration at an MSRP of $4,799, which is 29 percent higher than the earlier option.
Part of the $1,100 difference is tied to the inclusion of 64 GB of RAM. That makes the machine especially relevant for buyers who want a gaming laptop that also has enough memory for heavier workloads.
A premium version of the 16-inch Zephyrus
The laptop still keeps the 16-inch format that defines the ROG Zephyrus G16 family. What changes is the level of hardware inside, as this version moves further above the configurations that were available first.
Asus is also showing the RTX 5080 model in silver, giving it a cleaner look than the more typical gaming aesthetic. Combined with the new performance ceiling, the design choice reinforces its position as a high-end option rather than a standard gaming notebook.
