Xiaomi’s Redmi Buds 8 are positioning themselves as more than just another low-cost pair of wireless earbuds. With active noise cancellation, LHDC support, and dual 11 mm drivers, the model pushes into features that are usually reserved for pricier audio products.
The earbuds have now reached several markets outside Asia, including Germany and the UK. In Germany, Xiaomi lists them at €50 through its official store, while the UK price is £40, giving the product a clear value-focused pitch in both markets.
Premium features at a budget level
The headline feature is ANC, with Xiaomi claiming up to 50 dB of noise reduction. That level of cancellation is notable for the segment, especially when paired with LHDC, a codec designed to deliver higher-quality wireless audio with less loss.
Xiaomi also equips the Redmi Buds 8 with two 11 mm drivers. Another notable feature is Sound ID, which uses a hearing test to shape the sound output around the user’s preferences and listening profile.
Battery life remains competitive
Battery performance depends heavily on whether ANC is active. Xiaomi says the earbuds can last up to 11 hours on their own and up to 44 hours with the charging case when ANC is turned off.
With ANC enabled, playback drops to 6.5 hours on the earbuds and up to 28 hours in total. That still keeps the Redmi Buds 8 within a competitive range for everyday use, especially in the budget category.
Durability and color choices
The earbuds carry an IP54 rating, which adds protection against dust and splashes. Xiaomi is also offering three color options: Green, Black, and White.
For buyers in markets such as Germany and the UK, the Redmi Buds 8 stand out because they combine ANC, LHDC, dual drivers, and long battery life in a relatively affordable package. That mix gives Xiaomi a stronger position in a crowded segment where budget earbuds often cut back on features.
