GTA 6 on PS5 Promises Deep DualSense Support, But the Big FPS Question Remains

Rockstar Games has outlined how Grand Theft Auto 6 will use PlayStation 5 hardware, and the clearest message is that the console’s immersive features will play a major role. The studio says the game is designed to make full use of PS5 capabilities, but one detail players still want most has not been answered.

The missing piece is performance. Rockstar has not confirmed whether GTA 6 on PS5 or PS5 Pro will run at 30 FPS or 60 FPS, and that uncertainty is now one of the biggest talking points around the game.

DualSense support is central to the PS5 version

In a new post on the PlayStation Blog, Rockstar highlighted support for the DualSense controller. That includes haptic feedback and adaptive triggers, which should make combat and driving feel more reactive through changing vibration and trigger resistance.

The controller’s built-in speaker will also be used for certain sounds and interactions. Combined with the rest of the PS5 hardware, that approach is meant to push immersion higher as players move through Leonida.

Rockstar also confirmed support for Tempest 3D AudioTech. The feature should help place sounds more precisely around the player and make the world feel more active and spatially detailed.

Fast loading is part of the pitch

Another key point is the PS5’s ultra-fast SSD. Rockstar says the large open world will take advantage of that storage speed, with loading expected to be nearly instant when starting the game or moving between areas.

That is an important detail for a game of this scale, especially because Rockstar continues to frame the PS5 version as the best place to experience GTA 6. Still, the most demanded technical answer remains hidden behind that promise.

The frame rate debate is still unresolved

Earlier leaks suggested GTA 6 could include Performance and Quality modes, but they did not confirm whether the Performance option would actually target 60 FPS. That leaves room for speculation, not certainty.

Digital Foundry has also suggested the game may struggle to hold a stable 60 FPS even on the more powerful PS5 Pro. That assessment has only intensified interest in how Rockstar plans to balance visual ambition with smooth performance.

The PlayStation Store listing for GTA 6 now also carries a “PS5 Pro Enhanced” label. The label suggests specific optimizations for Sony’s premium console, but it does not explain whether the benefits involve resolution, stability, or a higher frame-rate target.

For now, Rockstar has given a clearer picture of how GTA 6 will use the PS5’s signature features. What it has not given is the answer that many players are waiting for most, and that question is likely to stay in focus until the studio reveals more.
