Samsung’s next foldable may be remembered less for raw specs and more for the way it feels in hand. Early leaks around the Galaxy Z Fold 8 point to a notably lighter device and a display crease that appears far less visible than before.
Those two changes matter because they address the most persistent complaints about foldable phones. A lighter body can make a big-screen device easier to use every day, while a less noticeable crease could make the unfolded display feel far closer to a standard slab phone.
A lighter foldable is the main surprise
The latest discussion comes from Lanzuk, a leaker who shared the information on Naver. According to people who have reportedly handled the Galaxy Z Fold 8, the device feels very light, even more than expected.
The exact weight has not been confirmed yet, but earlier leaks pointed to 201 grams. That would already be lighter than the Galaxy Z Fold 7, which weighs 215 grams.
What stands out is not only the number itself, but the impression it leaves. Lanzuk described the wider Fold 8 variant as feeling “unbelievable” and suggested that the lighter sensation could become one of its biggest selling points.
The crease may be much harder to notice
Display improvements are another key part of the rumor. In comparisons discussed around the leak, the crease on the wider Fold 8 is said to look better than on the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, the standard book-style model.
Samsung is reportedly using thicker Ultra-thin Glass, or UTG, to help reduce the visible fold line. The result is said to bring the screen experience closer to that of a non-folding bar phone.
That kind of progress would be important for Samsung’s foldable lineup. The crease remains one of the most visible reminders that a foldable display is still a compromise, even as the technology keeps improving.
