Samsung’s next smartwatch lineup is starting to look less like a routine refresh and more like a meaningful shift in direction. Recent leaks point to a stronger health focus for the Galaxy Watch 9, while the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 may arrive with a noticeably sharper design.
The timing matters because the next Galaxy Unpacked event is expected near the end of July. If these leaks hold up, Samsung appears ready to lean on health tracking, fitness tools, and a more distinct visual identity to separate its upcoming watches from the current generation.
Health tracking appears to be the main story
One of the clearest details comes from leaked screens posted on X by @GalaxyTechie, who shared eight images and labeled the post “Final Wave.” The images appear to show software features tied to both the Galaxy Watch 9 and Galaxy Watch Ultra 2.
Among the features shown is Heart Health Score, which Samsung had already announced earlier this month and has begun rolling out to existing Galaxy Watch models. Another screen points to a Hearing feature, apparently designed to warn users about loud environments around them.
That detail is significant because prolonged exposure to loud sound can raise the risk of hearing damage. It also suggests Samsung is pushing the smartwatch further beyond activity tracking and toward broader everyday health monitoring.
A separate leak highlights Vitals Score, a feature that analyzes five sleep-related health metrics: heart rate, heart rate variability, breathing rate, skin temperature, and blood oxygen levels. By focusing on sleep data, Samsung seems to be building a more complete picture of user wellness inside Samsung Health.
Outdoor fitness and underwater measurement may be expanding
Not all of the leaked details are centered on health scores. One screen tied to the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 shows Trail Run mode with a map, suggesting that navigation could become a bigger part of outdoor workout use.
That could matter for runners who train on open trails or routes that are harder to follow. It also fits the Ultra line’s position as the more rugged and activity-focused option in Samsung’s smartwatch family.
The most unusual clue comes from a screen with a water-drop icon and the line “Measurement begins when you’re underwater.” Samsung has not explained what that feature does, so its purpose remains unclear.
It may relate to swimming, a dedicated underwater sensor, or another new fitness tool. For now, the leak only confirms that Samsung is testing something designed to activate below the surface.
Colors, sizes, and connectivity are also coming into view
Other leaked information points to the possible color options for both watches. DigitalCitizen reports that the 40 mm Galaxy Watch 9 may come in Cream and Graphite, while the 44 mm version is said to arrive in Graphite and Silver.
For the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2, the rumored finishes are Titanium Gray and Titanium Silver. The same report says both Galaxy Watch 9 sizes will likely be offered in Bluetooth-only and LTE versions.
The Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 is expected to go further with Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and LTE connectivity. That combination reinforces its position as the more premium model in the lineup.
| Model | Reported Options |
|---|---|
| Galaxy Watch 9 40 mm | Cream, Graphite; Bluetooth-only or LTE |
| Galaxy Watch 9 44 mm | Graphite, Silver; Bluetooth-only or LTE |
| Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 | Titanium Gray, Titanium Silver; Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, LTE |
Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 may look more boxy
Design changes could make the Ultra model stand out even more. A separate leak previously shared by @GalaxyTechie and reported by 9to5Google suggests the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 may adopt a squarer shape.
That same leak also indicated a thinner bezel than the current Galaxy Watch Ultra. Although the original post has since disappeared, the details support the idea that Samsung wants the Ultra 2 to look more distinct from the standard Galaxy Watch models.
A sharper silhouette would help Samsung give the Ultra line a stronger visual identity, especially if it is paired with the broader set of fitness and health features now appearing in the leaks.
Samsung has not confirmed any of the leaked details so far. Even so, the information now circulating suggests the next Galaxy Watch generation could arrive with a clearer split between the standard and Ultra models, with health tools and design differences doing most of the work.
