Original Story Written by Yoichi Takahashi
Developed by Tamsoft Corporation, the game introduces a new original story mode written by Yoichi Takahashi, the creator of the original series. The plot is set four years after the dramatic conflict in the previous title.
The story follows Tsubasa Ozora and the Japan national team as they fight through the World Youth Championships. Along the qualification path, they will face Thailand, Uzbekistan, Saudi Arabia, and China.
More Tactical Action on the Pitch
Bandai Namco has also upgraded the Super Action Soccer system to make matches feel more intense. New super moves now appear during passing, dribbling, tackling, and blocking, giving players more ways to control the flow of play.
Goalkeeper duels have also been made more tactical through a new system that combines super shots and spectacular blocks. In addition to the main story mode, players can try New Stars Route to create custom characters and join the Japan national team.
Music support comes from Tadayoshi Makino, who contributes more than 80 new BGM tracks to the game. Captain Tsubasa 2: World Fighters is scheduled to launch on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox Series X|S on 27 August 2026.
